Maybe I need to listen to it more, but after listening to it a couple of times, I thought Prisoner of Conscious was very mediocre.

I kinda feel that way as well, I can bump old Talib all day but I've never really naturally just put on some of his newer stuff even though a lot of it is good. Felt that way with Gutter Rainbows as well, strangely enough I saw Talib live on his Gutter Rainbows tour and that shyt BUMPS with a live band and shyt. That Talib show was still one of the best hip-hop concerts I've ever been to. Hi-tek came out as a surprise and everything, it was dope. After the show was over Talib just chilled on stage DJing and the crowd got up on staged and danced (mad slutty bytches up there ) it was cool to see though.

Thing is Mos Def was an actor BEFORE he was a rapper. Dude was Bill Cosby's sidekick on theCosby Mysteries back in the day...

Mos is just gonna do Mos, he's one of those artists whose best material only comes when he's "feeling" it and I'm sure he's well aware of that. I'd rather him drop something dope every 3-5 years then churn out bullshyt just for the hell of it.

Been a fan since Quality.

I remember going see you and Hi-Tek at a free show at the Apple store near SOHO. This was around the time when Revolutions Per Minute came out. I was near the front rapping every word and even holding up your CD while most of the other people were just because it was free. Then after the show was over I went to the side of the stage and asked for an autograph. The girl took my CD to you guys, got you to sign it and came right back.

For someone reason I felt this weird sense of entitlement that you should have at least came out to see me when you signed it.
But it’s cool, water under the bridge and whatnot. Still went out and bought Prisoner of Conscious this year. Anyway, a couple questions:

• When are you and Mos going to make a new Black Star album?

• Jean Grae is so fukking nasty. Have you ever felt like she killed you on a song? She came close on Pheonix.

• Which of your albums is your favorite?

Another quick story, I was playing Final Fantasy 7 while listing to Quality and my sister was sleeping in my room. She woke up as “Talk to You” came on and she said “man that game has some good music!

Get out your feelings man at least it got signed lol Jean is my favorite MC. So there's that. Prisoner of Conscious. The newest is always the favorite.
