I knew someone was going to say that actor before rapper comment...fukk that he was an inspiring actor and did maybe 2-3 imfamous shows...that nikka still RAPS better than he acts

He did his thing in 12 Blocks though but he still sounded like a fukin c00n

The FACT remains that he quite OBVIOUSLY prefers acting over rapping at this point, so why try to force some half assed effort out of him when his heart isn't in it? When he's ready I'm sure he'll drop an album

Agreed. I consider Black Star, Black on Both Sides, and the first Reflection Eternal to be classics. Quality was a good follow up, but the rest of Kweli's catalog is disappointing. I think the only one after that I really enjoyed was that short Liberation album with Madlib.

Mos seemed to lose a lot of his interest in music after BOBS. The Ecstatic was pretty good though, and I'd be much more interested in checking out a new album from Mos than Talib at this point.

everything you said is spot on, especially about liberation folks is sleeping

i thought eardrum was dope at the time but i havent heard it in over 6 years, beautiful struggle probably has my favorite kweli love song with never been in love but lots of misses all over both those albums

i also think time has made me a different type of hip hop listener, maybe i think kweli holds back too much or plays it safe or even tries to cater to too many people because he feels boxed in. back then kweli was a god-like mc to me, now i think black thought is better than mos and kweli combined and has never fallen off

this in my opinion is the best hip hop song ever made. tho i'll probably change my opinion when i hear another one of my all time favorites

it's pure for the heads, gritty enough, there's enough profound thought, great storytelling, three greats on it and it feels like a borderline posse cut

and that city breathing shyt and mos verse :banderas: paints those words to life

"I like Jhene a lot, but she's on all the hottest albums right now, I want to be original maybe I'll reach out next year. Check for RES tho"

just like Kendrick was on Take Care but didn't stop you to work with him in a poor attempt at radio music :bryan:

That album is a classic but considering I haven't checked for Mos since New Danger and Kweli since Eardrum , I could care less .

:manny:
Crazy thats about when I stopped checking for both as well. Except I was hoping for some more good shyt from Mos when he was messing w/ Ski then dissapeared off all the hot tracks and then signed to Kanye and never to be heard from again except on random tracks or on his rebel shyt he been on it heavy.

I've given up a long time ago but you know what, I rather them drop 1 amazing quality album than no other albums but it seems Mos is clearly holding this up. It's cool cause I consider Black Star the foundation to all the solo's after. It was such an amazing album. It's funny, Mos holding up Black Star. Lauryn holding up Fugees, Andre holding up Outkast. 3 group reunions Hip Hop fans would love to see again. We got close with the Fugees though.
