Talking Smack has been cancelled as weekly series

There were a ton of people on Talking Smack that benefited from it, as it brought more to their characters that were rarely are able to show on TV. Them cancelling it has nothing to do with protecting anything, it has to deal with something that Vince wasn't directly involved in creating getting some shine, and since it wasn't his exact idea, it was nixed. It's basically WCW wrestlers in WWF all over again.

Keep in mind that the only reason "Smackdown LIVE" exists is because USA Network was unhappy with the low ratings the show got on Thursdays. If it weren't for that (and possibly some international contracts) Smackdown would be Main Event status right now, if it were still airing at all.

Contrary to reports, Talking Smack was not canceled due to a lack of viewers.

The WWE Network show, popular among fans for its organic nature, was canceled by Vince McMahon.

McMahon, whose appearances at weekly WWE television shows is becoming increasingly irregular, was at TVs this past week. Sources close to the situation reported that McMahon was unhappy with the show and strongly believed it did not serve the company’s best interests.
