Why are Germans more fluent? England never colonized them
im curious as to what you're getting at

germany is one of a few countries that speak german, a language that's really hard to learn, so a push for early english education was started years ago. the west german government was smart enough to see they weren't gonna be allowed to colonize anytime soon, if ever, and they were starting from a blank slate in terms of domestic politics. "german nationalism" certainly was not an acceptable rallying cry in 1945.

nordic countries and holland did the same, although with more internal motivation than political pressure. obviously stability and economy have a lot to do with it too. what am i missing?

Ever heard of the EU? The German economy is robust, subsidized by Europe and allows Germans social programs not afforded to Tanzanians :dwillhuh:

Under your logic Germans cant learn english because they are taught in German in school

my point is why can european na ti ons speak english better than nations where english is official? Maybe because they all stress fluency in theor NATIVE language and recognize english as foriegn language. Why shouldnt Tanzanoa follow this successful model?

i agree with the idea of tanzania following their model

i dont think there's a strong correlation between stressing fluency in their native language singularly, but that stress reveals a more successful education system in general

I met a chick from Tanzania. We were working on a project together. She was relatively petite with a monstrous ass. She was kinda conservative so she was always covered up. But that thang was poking out something serious.

I think its dope that they are getting rid of English from schools. First step of freeing yourself of the colonizers ideologies.
LOL, man, what does this got to do with anything?

If everyone speaks Kiswahili then why not?
The US speaks English because the Englishmen came here and stayed, they left all the African nations they went to.
It should still be the secondary language though, the world needs one and English is the best alternative since so many people already know it.

Globalization has been based on it, so Brits and their colonies are lucky that they don't need to know two languages, it could've been french.

This is Tanzania we're talking bout here...they don't produce shyt, they even import food they used to grow back in the days, they are technologically eons behind, low literacy, corrupt as fukk, rural regions dont even have clean water, they couldnt even issue their citizens ID cards til 2013

They been dancing around this 'Kiswahili as a language for instruction in schools' for over 2 decades..
Its not a simple task to teach in Kiswahili, especially Science subjects
They jack most of the material from English books any fukking way..they have had to come up with new words for scientific terms.
If Tanzania was a developed nation, this would be hard but doable..but for one of the poorest countries in the world??
Its fukking stupid

i don't know anything about tanzania but i hope nigeria does NOT do the same thing

in country with more than 20+ languages we need a universal language.

and i'm not learning anothers tribe's (fukkin hate what word) language :heh: fukk that

it's igbo or die, round here:birdman:
In countries which are really ethnically diverse - emphasizing a common language is important to help build up cultural unity. Having a common language tears down barriers, allows the build up of a culture (poetry, music, film etc.) and shared societal experiences.

In some African countries, that common language will have to be a European tongue. For instance, many Nigerians would be loathed to speak Hausa or Yoruba over English/Pidgin English. However, these languages of national unity don't make your country competitive globally. Even China is emphasizing the English language and their culture has existed for 4000 years and has over 1 billion people!
:wow: homie gets it

What I'm saying is IF they want to they should, they'll have to use a lot of English words and incorporate them in their language and invent new words just like every developed language. However if would not vote for it, I agree with what you are saying there's a lot more to worry about, things that actually are important for the wellbeing of the countries citizens.

Nowadays such nonsense politics :snoop:.

English is everywhere so let english at peace. You fight for education? Ok, add another language choice with spanish, german,..but
let children master this international language.

English is not the enemy. :snoop:

They realize that and figure they have nothing to lose so may as well go for it..being an English speaking country for a generation has obviously not worked, right?..

You say they are poor. Perhaps it is difficult for them to perform business and be confident in a language that is not their own and they do not want to own. Pride and dignity strengthens you to not take shyt, thats why Europeans insisted on native peoples abandoning your mothers tongue in favor of theirs. To take away your pride and sense of worth so they can control you and gain access to your resources..

The Commonwealth, ever heard of it genius??
Its a body of nations once colonized by Britain, and they are supposed to have a special relationship with the UK but really all the commonwealth is, is a way for British business and Government to make inroads into these former colonies and get first on any commodity, resource etc..

once again, people underestimate the true power of language..

So wait, they're dropping English as the language of instruction and using their so-called "mother tongue" which is supposedly Kiswahili. But Kiswahili is a blend of mostly Arabic and some Bantu. :snoop:

Get rid of one slave language and replace it with another slave language brehs.
