what company made the cards?...:patrice:

1st card - I don't really have much of a problem with that one. It's just using a term - not associating it with anybody.

It means a lot, some of you need to stop lying, and stop trying to use small examples that you know, in order to justify and keep normalizing abnormalities. If these problems were only being reported by the white media, i would give them the side eye, but this is not the case.

Kids need both parents, and both parents need to be mentally stable to take care of them. Kids need to see MOM and DAD as role models.

See the stats about kids from single parents, they are behind kids from 2 parent household, in the majority of the successful parameters.

I already know that some of you will bring school shooters coming from a 2 parent household, and etc. Forgetting that they are a minority when you compare the ratio of successful people coming from a 2 parent household. By success, i am not talking about money and fame.

PS: Obama was not raised by a single mom.

Of course, exceptions will always exist, but they are just that, exceptions...During the colonization of Africa, there were rich black people, rich black planters and traders, under colonial rule. Can we use them to represent the majority of the population? You know better...The majority of the population was fukked up.

The reason why that stat is problematic is because it’s based on an antiquated question from the year 1940 (the recreation of the census). The us government hasn’t adapted to the changing structures of today’s family ( responsible separations. Cohabitation, etc). The reason you associate this stat with negative stereotypes is because of the racial “welfare Queen” campaign led by Reagan in the 1980’s.

The first time I realized that there was a "baby mama/baby daddy" culture in the black community was when I sat down and watched an episode of L&HH with my fiance. One of the rappers was going off on one of his whores who apparently disrespected his "baby mama" even though he was not with his "baby mama". Apparently, that's a faux pas. As the episode went on, I learned that there are all these "established/agreed upon/widely recognized" rules and guidelines surrounding deference that should be given to the baby mama and protocol that should be followed by whores when or if they are interacting with their John's baby mama, current girlfriend, or other whores. The baby mama always takes precedence.

The episode was appalling but absolutely fascinating at the same time. It was really the first time that it sunk in to me that the black community is LOST.

Our ire shouldn't be directed at Target. That's just capitalism and capitalism has no regard for race. Only profit.

But it should. Look if someone is present in their child's life that they are commemorated with a card on a holiday then they are a father or a mother and it's that simple. Whatever role they are outside of that is irrelevant on a cotdayum holiday card. And brehs ain't going in droves to Target to by baby momma/daddy cards so there is only one group this is targeting....

Yeah, the first card comes from a company that makes weirdo cards in general so I don't think they intended to be slick when they made that.
Still, I really wish the "baby momma/daddy" terms gets phased out of the AA vernacular. Just a bad look for us.

Hmm.. not sure if I follow you. Of course there is only one group that they are targeting.

Why would Target put out a product like this? They apparently feel that there is a market for it.

And who has given them license to think that there is a market for a product like this? That's where the ire should be directed. Putting out a product without a perceived consumer base is a one way ticket to bankruptcy.

What you are saying is you want us to be upset at a business for doing what businesses do. Turn a profit.

We are starting to have a whole generation where "baby mama" and "baby daddy" are terms commonly used within the AADOS lexicon. Why not try to capitalize off of it?

And yes of course, it's targeted to a specific demographic.

I'm actually upset that it wasn't a black person that didn't think of the idea. If anyone should make money off of our degeneracy, I would rather it be one of our own. :francis:

Even if you're not married, you're still the FATHER of the child, so what in the fukk is the point of these cards??
They believe there is a market within the black community that embraces this cultural stereotype enough to by cards for it?

Breh you can't simply brush off people's experiences like single Black mothers are a myth propagated by racist President. I'll grant you this much, Reagan contributed to the problem, but its not a myth. Even in my mid 20s during cynical phases I would see an attractive Black woman and muse to myself that if she's attractive she probably has a kid or two.
