That was the plan all along. Have it open a few years, start talking about white folks wanting to shut him down and being under attack, then shut down the museum, rent it out to other businesses and collect. Or just sell it outright and cash out.Yikes.
I always thought taking donations for a property that would presumably be in his name was kind of sus, but even more so if it's on a mortgage
Commercial real estate mortgages usually are 5-15 yrs, so it's a worst case scenario where Tariq takes all the donation money, pays for mortgage/taxes/maintenance with new donations and then flips the property for even more money in a couple years if the museum flops for whatever reason

It would be turning a profit doing exactly what Tariq is doing had he bought the place out right, but instead now since he took the donated money, the money earned now is just being used to pay back a lender and from the video it's $1.1 million that it looks like he owes.

That's how museums get a big chunk of their money. I pass by the American Indian museum in NYC everyday and some days they're having an event some of these events at museums you have to pay to get in just to be haggled to donate
