My apologies, I multi quoted and it was another guy I was responding to. I still stand on the belief that going on Vlad is a bad look for black people, especially people like Tariq that told black folks to not go on the platform.
The white man apologizing to Tariq in his face is a golden opportunity. I don't blame Tariq for taking advantage of such an opportunity. Even though I know (and I'm sure Tariq knows) that white folks have a history of apologizing to appease and pacify for the long con.
Tariq is a businessman and has been promoting his FBA brand for years. Getting Vlad to apologize to Tariq about saying something against his brand helps Tariq's business and makes him look good. Yes, Tariq spoke out against Black folks going on Vlad but Hip Hop saw Jay Z and Nas go from spewing hatred at each other to doing songs together. Hip Hop saw Gucci Mane/Jeezy and Beenie Man/Bounty Killer go from sworn enemies to doing a Verzus together. People sometimes change positions as time goes by. If Tariq once said Black people shouldn't go on Vlad, then whoever hears that should have a mind of their own whether to agree or disagree. I personally never agreed with that. So seeing him switch up means nothing to me because I never agreed with that and conclude he now sees it my way.
Lets be honest here. Hip Hop culture has for too long been fueled by negativity. Last year Hip Hop saw the 2 most popular Black Men in current Hip Hop disrespect each other on a personal level while the crowd roared and enjoyed it. Meanwhile, Universal Music Group was eating real good from both sides. Vlad is small potatoes compared to Universal Music Group.
Way before Vlad we all acknowledged Vibe magazine amping up that Pac and Biggie beef. Vibe was a put together by Quincy Jones a Black Man. Way before Vlad we saw P Cutta do a whole mixtape beef series of rappers diss songs. P Cutta is a Black Man. Way before Vlad, QBIII had a popular 3 part DVD series about rapper beefs. QDIII is Quincys Jones son following tradition. If this is what the culture was before Vlad, you can't just pretend that Vlad started the exploitation of the negative aspects of Hip Hop all after the fact. Again, most of these platforms promote, exploit and profit from the negative aspects of Hip Hop. Mona Scott, a Black Woman, has been exploiting the negative aspects of Hip Hop just as long as Vlad has with the Love & Hip Hop series. Why? Because just like Vlad, the product is entertaining and attains a lot of viewership.
Unique Access Ent. is more culturally focused on Hip Hop and is a platform that's run by a white guy. Unique Access Ent. is an alternative to Vlad. Only problem is that they don't have the reach that Vlad has.
