She will eventually get more senior committee appointments, but it’s a shame that her future is limited. Think about it for a second, for the first time in US history, we will have two black women serving at the same time. Being a lifetime representative is cool, but eventually people become overly critical and diminish the work that was done, it’s the whole what have you done for me lately mindset. For example, John Lewis came in as a political maverick too, and it would have been interesting to see what it would have been like if he could have gotten elected to the Senate.
People criticize the videos and her demeanor, but they fail to realize a representative is always in campaign mode. Every two years, you are up for vote, so keeping your name relevant is vital. We are talking about her, and she has name recognition; I would venture and say most people can’t name four congressional members from their state, or three other black woman congressional members.
I would like to see what her policies and views and voting patterns are like when she is not worried about reelection
