In my opinion that sounds ridiculous and one of the reasons we’re such a scattered, discombobulated group of people. What you’re really saying is make way for everybody’s ego. If the goal is reparations of some sort then why not rally behind the people who have the most traction with it? I’m not even just super fans of them but Yvette and Tone is the reason why this conversation is at the level it is now. For Tariq not to attend/promote their ADOS conference yet have one of his own is some ho shyt, that’s purely ego driven. At what point do these lanes converge? Different lanes can lead to different destinations. What people need to do is get in where they fit in. And if it’s not at the head so be it.

It seems they are approaching the same goal from different angles. ADOS being more political, Tariq being more pro-black and a lot more controversial.
I think people recognize that folks like Yvette, Tone and Darity are better as far as a public debate. While Tariq is more street level, rallying the troops.

Well the reality is that WE ARE American and being proud of that doesn’t mean that we have to love Yankee Doodle and praise George Washington. Being a proud African American/ADOS/FBA means you see Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, MLK, as your “founding fathers”, eat “soul food”, and listen to RnB, Jazz, and more.
Holding up the flag doesn’t mean that they are allying with white america, it simply means I’m Black from America not Senegal, Ghana, Jamaica, or any other place. It’s to further create a distinction from the Black people who come to the USA to undermine ADOS. Remember, a Black girl sewed that flag....out history IS American history, it’s only the land of the free because of us.
World history is our history,you can't truly have knowledge of self until you realize this. Our people have been everywhere on the globe,you can't call yourself the "original man" and not know this. All people are technically our people though mutations and admixture,but thats another story. The European has you thinking that standing still is what AA's do. All of those things we did are just a credit to black people,America is just another place that CLEARLY isn't home. The idea is to grow,do you think your ancestors pre slavery would have stayed put in a barren wasteland? or moved around and made a home for themselves elsewhere? America has proven to be a barren wasteland for us as a people that we can't truly grow seeds in. If you are thinking about your children no way you could continue to be apart of this dominant white society. Unless of course you are so stuck on history,your not looking at the right now and what has become of the minds,bodies and souls of black people in a European subculture.Its crazy we can't see we have adopted the mentality forced on us through slavery. Black people of today have the audacity to ask why slaves didn't just run off the plantation.
