The Celtics aren't a superteam. A superteam has at least 2 MVP level players, you got nikkas in here saying Tatum isn't even top 5. They aren't on the same level has the Heatles, 17-19 Warriors, 01 Lakers or 96 Bulls.
They had three players on the Olympic team. Two all stars. A top five player. Two top 20 players. Two all defensive players. A big who when healthy came be a top 50 player.

That’s a super team. Maybe not Warriors level but I think they can see the Heat and possibly the Bulls.

And I'll say it again....

He looks like he yells KOBE after every jumper

Damn.

I hate to admit this.

This is why I believe Tatum is not likeable.
Tatum was too much of a kobe stan.

That take is probably how Tatum is perceived in general.

Plus you mix in that he plays in Boston. It just creates to much neg based scenarios that media will push back.

As the media does not like someone in Boston. Who shows affinity to a laker.
Sohh quite possibly the media in Boston. Just does not save him. In the manner.
the Eastern seaboard media wpuld have in the past.
The eastern seaboard media is like you need to be Celtics down all the way.
Similar to the truth. Where even though tha truth is from cali. Ypu wpuld have to check his bio. To know. As tha truth and even ticket committed to snd bought into being pro Boston...
Whereas Tatum is so pro kobe. That the eastern seaboard media just will wholeheartedly not back.
that middle of the road branding.
Slash half committed idea of what they probably see as switch siding.

Excellent all round player, just lacks that extra magic. I've seen him get 50 and the reaction is:russell:
Again, seemingly none of you levying this argument can actually articulate your criticism aside from lacks magic or "the vibes are off"...

New sports fans want a reality show attached to the game now. And it's weird because the perception of JT by C's fans compared to the rest of the league is wildly different. Him and now and especially Deuce are royalty in the Garden and around the city in general. He's a champ, a good dad and keeps his nose out of shyt. Why are we asking for something else like "magic" :dead: ?

Again, ya'll are buying into the ESPN "vibes" of sports now. Have fun always being disappointed when the vibes are off and you have to just rely on entertaining yourself with the actual sport. A bunch of online Kendrick Perkins :russ:

I don't think thats a good comp. Tatum is way more authentic than Russell Wilson and seems more connected to Black culture.

It’s not an exact parallel but they both get treated the same, just for different reasons

Russ = corny bc he not black enough

Tatum = corny bc he don’t got “aura”

The 96 Bulls had 2 MVP level players?

Sorry breh he lacks that extra sauce:russ:

Watching Kobe, Lebron, Curry and Durant has spoiled fans as to the expectations of superstars. It's not enough to win Chips, be a great all around player and have a great public image. Does your game get folks off their seat, draw the attentions of casuals. Attention is a currency and his game does not draw attention despite him being dominant and consistent. The NBA is dependent on it's superstars and the new batch of superstars just don't get people excited as much:yeshrug:

He's this era's Tim Duncan in terms of just showing up, being great, having success, then taking his ass home. No extra flare, theatrics, and that's fine, but it's not going to get you that extra level of love that Kobe got.

There's also nothing he does that we haven't seen before. He scores a lot of points but he's nowhere near as efficient as Jordan or Durant. Athletic enough to get the job done, but not an eye-popping athlete like a LeBron or Russ. Genuinely seems like a good human being, but doesn't have the "wow, I'd love to kick it with them" sauce like Curry or Shaq.

He comes off like he is - a regular human being who happens to be extraordinarily good at his job. And that's okay.

He's likely going to keep winning for the foreseeable future. If he locks down a MVP, he's as certified as anybody. I just don't care about dude. Never have and never will. I've seen what he can do long ago. They did it better, and a few of them who did it better are still active players and all stars.

It also does not help his case that his teammates is seen as more interesting than he is and arguably just as good. Some even argue better, and while those folks who are Brown is better may be wrong (probably), that isn't going to make that finals MVP that confirmed their biases go away.

New sports fans want a reality show attached to the game now.

Sports fans always wanted a reality show attached to the game bro. It's why sneakers get sold, jerseys get bought, interviews get done and commercials get made.

We're not going to pretend Michael Jordan, Barry Bonds, Larry Bird, Pedro Martinez, John Elway, Charles Barkley, Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Babe Ruth, Ronaldinho, Serena Williams, Derek Jeter, or Shaquille O'Neal were just beloved because they were really good at their sport.

Every single one of those fukkers were larger than life, captivating figures who evoked emotions.

It's a product. A product is supposed to be attractive, even if it works efficiently and does its job exceedingly well, its still a product.

I should also say it's not like Tatum is completely devoid of intangibles. It ain't that serious. He's young, good looking, plays for the best or 2nd best franchise in basketball history, wins, has personal and team accolades, AND is light skinned enough to not irritate white America too much.

This nikka has sneakers, sells tons of jerseys, etc. Somebody fukking with him. They just not fukking with him on the level he'd prefer they do.

Nikola Jokic is probably in actuality the person that Tatum perceives himself to be. The only reason it's not obvious is because Joker does not want to be "the guy". He just wants to abuse tall, black American males and then go home.
