Im in late July too. Its still a toss up between Vegas, Miami and Dominican Republic.

I thought Miami too, but fell lust with Cosmopolitan hotel in Vegas and it's calling..I want DR also but when it's cold would be ideal.

Got back about $1600 combined. Received the State on Friday and Fed was here this morning. Just an FYI the Feds usually deposit money on a Monday if you're looking. I'm going to lace my savings account and the rest I'm going to spend on myself.

Most of it is going to my daughters braces, dental bills, and paying up on my car note.

I expect it back around next week since I filed it on the 6th

I got 6k back. Half going to savings. 1k is too spend on my son. The rest is for my birthday trip this summer.

No hate but why do parents get so damn much back? I mean, you got dudes out here working 60 hrs a week and get like 500 when claiming single. But just cause you have a kid (not you personally, in general), the gov't says "ok, you've endured moreso than single men so here, take this W" smh. Between the tax and credit system, i think it's designed to keep a cycle going. Not sure how deep it is but i can assure you that it does exist

I don't know her individual situation but she could have more deductions than just her child. Also depending on her salary she could qualify for earned income credit.

That's what my account told me a few years ago and it's been true ever since. With the shut down and delayed filing and all that things could be different now or I'm just lying. Either way I hope you get your money tomorrow as promised.

Regardless of if you are a parent or not, your taxes are going to be the same for a fiscal year whether you get a big return or pay in.
If you get a big tax return, you've been getting more tax taken out in each paycheck. If you owe taxes, then you've been getting less taxes taken out in each paycheck. Your net income from Jan. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013 after income taxes paid is the same.
