The logic that you've tripped yourself over with here is why religion (and any belief system) is used to justify the unjustifiable, in the abstract or otherwise.

And it's the same reason why you're not only normalizing but also taking joy in these acts, which are in reality, the result of mankind's most prominent and neglected mental illness. Middle Eastern countries are definitely racist, and they have an inferiority complex with the west (especially new oil money gulf countries)

from my experiences, they definitely treat you different if you're black (every black muslim can attest to this too), i think most of the discussion here though is people making the distinction between how much of these practices in Arab/Middle Eastern countries are cultural rather than religious .... like, black muslims will often call out arabs for their behavior (like doing black face on arab tv), but don't necessarily look at it as an "islamic" problem, more so an "arab" one

for example - the religion may be entrenched in the "culture" of those countries as in you hear call to prayers, you see mosques everywhere, etc ... but not necessarily in practice as bars and clubs are more poppin than the masjids, you get me? so a lot of the racist, bigoted behavior is remnants from old Arab cultural shyt imo, and it is done even within Arab countries (like different types of arabs - gulf, levant/biblical and north african/MENA, etc), before it even gets racial to non-arabs

also, because a big part of the labor force are south asian (Nepali, indians, etc), they would prolly be getting the most exploitative and harsh racial discrimination and treatment, Filipinos, far-east asians and black folks (from East or west africa) would be next ... however, if you are from the west (American, UK, Canada etc) your nationality will get you preferential treatment over your counterpart from the native country, so people visiting may not notice these racial hierarchies until you live there for longer than a few months

just my insight/experiences

I've been working in the ME for the last 15 months as an oil&gas expat, and this is 100% accurate.

• Dark-skinned south asians are bottom of the barrel; janitors, gardeners, garbage men, etc
  
• Filipinos are the waiters, hotel/store clerks, barbers, tour guides, and managers of the janitors/gardeners, etc
• Americans/UK/Canada expats... it's a weird dynamic. At times its like being black in corporate white America... but if you got paid a shyt-load of tax free money (more than your white colleagues), plus perks, benefits, and housing covered... just to deal with their covert bullshyt.

What's funny is the white people get so frustrated with the work place politics because they aren't used to being treated like 2nd class citizens. There is a level of envy/jealousy from the UK/Canada/ME locals when it comes to the USA folks, since we get the biggest salary/benefits.
