Please don't let anyone dissuade you from home schooling your kid. Public school is just state-sponsored indoctrination. There's nothing to be gained from going to a public school. I've learned more outside of school than inside. Public school is like McDonalds, while private schools are more like Subway. Neither of these compare to homemade food.

People always say this. People act like a public school is the center of the universe where you learn everything. You could make friends outside of public school. You could learn to socialize outside of public school.

In fact, public school is a bad place to learn how to socialize since you don't have much of a chance for socialization. You're not allowed to talk in class without getting a trouble with the teacher. Only time you could socialize is in between class or during lunch. Also you could only talk with kids who are the same age as you. What if you want to talk to older kids or younger kids? What if you wanted to talk to kids outside your socio-economic class? You won't have the luxury of having a diverse group of friends.

People really think home schooling entails locking your child in his bedroom forcing him to memorize math equations. It's much more flexible than that.

Just goes to show not everybody has the temperament for public school teaching, or teaching in general. The same with being a police officer. Some people would be much better suited to doing an office job. Dealing with the public as part of a profession is not for everybody. It sure isn't for me. Even looking at the clip my cynical side came out thinking she'll have a kid or two in the next couple of years. The teacher sounds older too, and you know those kids wear his nerves thin. The older I get the less tolerant I get around teenagers. That's why I can't be a teacher. The other thing is, even if he was joking, or that's his style of interaction with kids, it illustrates again the need to be professional and not let your guard down. He messed up.
