Its difficult if you're a teacher that cares.
Imagine putting in 60+ hours a week to try and make up for the failures of other teachers, while teaching your kids the material, after its been chopped apart by state and national standards. Its really rough. Especially when the parents aren't giving any added support from the outside, you have kids with emotional issues, physical issues, mental issues, and home issues, counselors that don't do shyt, and other faculty that are just trying to hold out until they can get a pension. Your poor-ass state might cut the funding, and you're already using textbooks older than you are. Plus there's an odd peer-pressure with the students to not give a fukk about work, that spreads to most of the students, in regard to homework.
As a college student, I can now see just how easy it would have been to have gotten straight As in middle and high school, and why a lot of the teachers were so frustrated. I do some tutoring to kids, and its incredibly easy to see how their previous teachers have failed in a few regards.
Plus the pay is absolute trash, unless you're been in the school district for 20 years or more. At least here in Ohio, especially CMSD.

....

Anyone who has ever tried to teach immediately shuts the fukk up about how easy it is. It's an art and science. Most people can't even hold the attention of their friends for more than a hour, so how in the hell would they know the first thing about how to hold the attention of 25+ kids who may or may not have home training for more than ten minutes?

You don't happen to teach English, do you?
