Actually the Nets have made a pitch for the Islanders to play in Brooklyn. The only problem is that the arena was built solely for basketball without hockey in mind. Apparently this means that you'd have some obstructed view seats in it during hockey games. Also NHL commissioner Gary Bettman complained that the commute to Brooklyn to see the Islanders would be difficult for existing Islander fans. Personally, I think the commute to Kansas City or Quebec would be even worse!

So, anyway, its possible they move to Brooklyn. I think the owner's preference is to get a new arena in Long Island or maybe even Queens, but Brooklyn doesn't seem to be out of the question.

really?
i was just reading that prokohov a russian who loves hockey says the barclay center can accommodate hockey

Well, I believe a per-season Islanders game will be played their this fall, so I think it can accommodate hockey its just wasn't quite designed with hockey in mind. From what I hear from Islanders fans some are worried that will make it look bush league, but I think playing in the oldest, worst arena in the league while its only 81% full is bush league to.

I didn't realize Phoenix's attendance was so low, either. I guess that makes sense, who'd want to invest in a team that might move anyway.

if the palace needs renovations or a new arena is called upon by the greedy nba and new pistons ownership, they AINT getting the money from auburn hills, detroit, or any metro detroit municipality. they will hold the area hostage and lose the battle. The state especially the current ownership aint giving the nba shyt.

if that happens for the pistons, i will kiss them goodbye sadly. At least I saw them live and was in the parade.

How did I get ripped off? Won't cost me a penny.

The state plans to add electronic pull-tabs and bingo to charitable gambling to cover the state portion of the bonds and could add a tax on luxury boxes or an approved sports-themed state lottery game if the revenue comes up short.

The city contribution would be covered by extending taxes on hotels, liquor and restaurants that now apply to the Minneapolis convention center. The proposal also frees the city to work on its publicly owned Target Center basketball arena.

Minnesotians or whatever are paying $500 million for a stadium with a fixed room with a 30 year lease...LOL @ the thought of an nfl stadium being used for 30 years; the vikings are gonna hold minneapolis hostage again in 15 at most.
