With news breaking Tuesday morning that ex-Eagles and Jets quarterback Tim Tebow plans to pursue a professional baseball career, it feels like we are entering another Tebow Era in sports and popular culture - the one that bridges us from his failed NFL career to his eventual run for federal office.
And no matter how long this latest spell of Tebow Fever lasts, it's going to be fun.
We now have video of Tebow showing off his left-handed swing, courtesy of TMZ. You can watch it above.
Some folks who have played professional baseball believe in Tebow's ability. Former Major Leaguer Chad Moeller has been working out with Tebow, and he says "the swing is for real." Former Yankee Gary Sheffield also says Tebow is a "natural,"and that he "absolutely believes" Tebow can play in the big leagues.
Then, there are the doubters.
Tebow is scheduled to hold a workout for the 30 MLB teams at some point in the not-too-distant future. ESPN's Darren Rovell says he already worked out for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
But as expected, the inevitable publicity-seeking contract offers from minor league clubs are already rolling in! The Schaumburg Boomers, an independent team in Illinois that plays in the Midwest-based Frontier League, have offered Tebow a contract already to join their club as an outfielder.
