When they start laying off Chip Designers :wow:

I joked, but deep down knew Chips and hardware weren’t safe from A.I. Even Embedded Systems and hardware in general is vulnerable because so much of the field seems like it’s digging through datasheets and coding, both of which A.I can do.

Still at it. Interviewing with another company im super interested in. But their process is sooooo annoying. They schedule calls one by one. Most companies after the HM round would set up your multi conversation x-functional round all at once (3-4 individual convos on the same day or maybe across two days depending on availability ) not have you speak to one, get feedback, speak to the second, get feedback, speak to the third, get feedback…like wtf, just make this a round and they all give feedback at once.

Personally, I think India is more of threat to embedded systems than AI :mjpls:

We messed up as an industry by not having internal licensing system the same way the accounting boards, or legal boards, or medical boards, or nursing boards do. There are real consequences too embedded mistakes from jankey offshore teams, unlike most web software.

In hindsight, we would have had a legitimately good case if we went to Congress and said that people will die from shoddy offshoring work on critical systems. we'd have state licensure overnight if embedded brehs told senators about Therac25.

I'm hopping the new AI professionals see the writing on the wall and advocate for themselves the way their seniors did not . And ABET can go to hell:mjcry:

Yeah, ABET going international was tough. More and more schools around the world are satisfying that standard.

Outside of the fact I have pure interest and understand the material well it’s why I chose my specialization as RF and Communication Systems because I knew many people didn’t want to do it. Downside is that there are not many industries outside of defense that hire and they prefer MSEE and Security Clearance, I’d only have a BSEE and no Security Clearance.

Right now though Power is booming because they need Engineers to power the A.I Data Centers, but that’s something very very few people can do remote work in. I additionally do not understand why more EE’s don’t get more resolve when it comes to demanding higher salaries.

Made it to the third round/final round. Very small company, like 45 people. By the end of the interview, the guy who I am suppose to be replacing interviewed me flat out said he is moving me to the next round. Hopefully, by the end of the week I can get a job offer. Same salary, more money due to bonuses, and work/life balance so If I get an offer this week. Imma wrap up my projects and bounce!

Ended up with 2 more interviews added. One with the CISO and CEO :mjlol: . After the end of the call, CEO says I am one of the candidate and the feedback he has had from everyone has been great.

Putting in my two weeks notice, the moment I sign an offer :hubie: tired of being over worked here.

Think of this way. If you read an article on AlphaGo in 2016 and decided to learn the math, programming, and logic required to understand how the system works, you would be in high-demand right now, nine years later.

If you are willing to learn the underlying math, maybe through advanced linear and number theory, not only will you have a ton of fun, you'll be in demand for decades.
around 2015/2016 this British dude who sat across from me at the gig spent all his free time studying AI and working on AI/machine learning projects
At the time there was talk around AI but i'm not sure many were taking it seriously, seemed more like a research thing. What could be in the far off future type of subject
So I largely looked at dude like he was working on some hobbyist shyt. Like people who do Pi builds. Like it's tech and you can use it....but nobody really gives a fukk.

Assuming he kept up with it I'm sure it's hella useful to him now. Can't remember his last name to look him up on linkedin but I wonder if he leveraged all that free time he poured into AI to get into the space
