That's my situation right now, I work 70 hours a week consistently. It's even worse when I travel for work which I do a lot. Management is trying to give me a counteroffer because I am one of their top performers but after two years, I am fkn drained. Everyone is complaining at my job about being overworked.

I took one week vacation because a client cancelled a project, I slept all day for those days.

New job is even emphasizing personal time matters in their job offer.
I would rather be unemployed than work upwards of 70hrs per week. Unless there was some way I could automate my job duties. To make it look like I was working that many hours.

I have a series of processes and stored procedures that only I know how they work. I just be monitoring my shyt…..
Make minor adjustments then go on with my day. It’s 2pm now, I started at 10am, I think that’s good for a Monday :heh:

If you had one of these "tech-jobs" for at least 2-3 years, then that was more than enough time to "stack".

Losing a job when you're not prepared to do so sucks, but you can't expect people that are unemployed, working blue collar jobs, or working regular 9-5 jobs to feel sorry for y'all.

Yea, I'm being a hater, but I'm not lying.

I mean you not wrong. Id sell half of my palantir shares and get unemployment and maybe bounce to Thailand for a year and live well. I am a big proponent of living below your means

It’s harder than it sounds

Most of them had to live in or now have to relocate to areas where the col is exorbitant and in general more income increases your appetite or tolerance for high spending plus most of us are in major education or other debt. Yes a high salary is that but it’s not without its issues as well.

Was in an Amazon informational session recently and multiple recruiters in there said the LC bar is raising due to AI cheating
Seems like it would make more sense to come up with a better way to screen for AI aids rather than start asking PHD level algo's with caveats and missing out on qualified candidates

You'd think they'd move away from LC instead of just doubling down on it. Like they encouraging people to cheat

I definitely know Intel is reducing big time and making layoffs because they’re trying to undo the insane amount of damage the last two CEO’s have done. Their cuts are more about putting the company back in the right direction because they’ve been doing bad (look at the stock price the last 10 years). Their stock price is literally back to 2009 levels. They need changes badly and so they’re cutting things like their automotive sector. They’re getting smoked by AMD, TSM, etc. The new CEO said they were going to have to make changes unfortunately.

Those other companies, especially Microsoft? That’s a shame (look at their stock price the last 10 years). Stock price is worth more than it’s ever been and they want to lay people off to profit more.

The latter is absolutely wack shyt, now it’ll be interesting seeing how they lost their top OpenAI talent to Meta. Zuckerberg in a recent interview said they were going to have so much more compute power compared to OpenAI because Microsoft has to spend more money on maintenance and CapEx for their while Meta can go pure Data Center and Power Plants.
