Anyone ever work at a startup what are some red flags to peep for?
You might only see them if you work in cybersecurity with access to damn near every log. I recognized them gearing up to fire hundreds of people before anyone else. Or cancelling contracts because I could read everyone's emails.
:mjlol:
Startups are so mismanaged it's not funny.

Your job title wont matter. You'll do everything.

I get that, main thing is asking for an updated title and prob more base since the equity concept is grey.

Also id assume its best to live even more frugal as my perception with start ups is when they go under thats all folks lol

Make sure you setup several Google Alerts on the company to email you daily. You don't want to be surprised by a lawsuit or lack of funding out of the blue.

I always look up past employees on LinkedIn to see how long they worked there. If we have connections in common I'll reach out and ask them about the place. Avoided a ton of death traps this way.

Seems this place been around 10 yrs and based outside USA, they are expanding though but with startups expansion can also = burning through money

Hackers fooled Cognizant help desk, says Clorox in $380M cyberattack lawsuit

Clorox is suing IT giant Cognizant for gross negligence, alleging it enabled a massive August 2023 cyberattack by resetting an employee's password for a hacker without first verifying their identity.

I`m anticipating a On shore boom like we say in the early/mid 2010s where companies had to start bringing stuff back after all those late 2000s breaches

I'm seeing where the US Company cancels the outsourcing contract. But turns around and hires the same workers from the outsource company. Rather than being those jobs back to the US.

If they do hire US workers it's to further train the outsource company workers they just hired. You babysit them for a year and when their ready you get the boot.

The curve ball is this LATAM Expansion companies are doing as they are pretty competent but they don't have the 20-30 years of infra put up to churn out low cost workers if that makes sense. Their Universities are actually solid (with India the top universities are legit and those people can simply leave, but there are universities that spam out bad talent, which is something you don't see in LATAM) and the top people just immigrate to USA and Europe.

That said I still don't see there being a huge pool of jobs so new grads/early career will be assed out unless they are Elite, and I`m reading LLMs/AI have pretty much made a generation of grads who don't know anything due to just using AI for their assignments.

I remember during this first term when those H-1B rejection rates skyrocketed. My company had a fit cause they could barely get any visas approved. I fleeced so many companies on salary those 4 years. Job hoppers made out like bandits during that period.

shyt is nuts man. I’ve been hearing ZERO from IT Recruiters, Contract gigs, etc and I just been trying to get lil quick few months deployment project or something :pachaha:

Think its a combo of AI, The interest rates, and this fool with these random ass tariffs. There was like a week last year when the fed was expected to cut rates and I started hearing from a lot of people.

Then they didn’t and that shyt went back to tumbleweeds status :dead:
Following up on this. Looks like it really is a lack of jobs.

One goes up and I get calls nonstop all day from numerous recruiters.
