I got laid off in April 2024. I was unemployed until July 2025, I am on the 2nd week of my new job. That is paying me 40% less than my last job. :mjcry:
I’m making 30% less than my last job and it hurts. It took me 6 months to find my current job.

I’m hybrid, working 1-2 days a week in office. I’m seriously considering applying to jobs that are 5 days a week in office. I want more money.

Job Seekers Disgusted When They Show Up to Job Interviews and the "Interviewer" Isn't Even Human

"I don’t want to work for a company if the HR person can’t even spend the time to talk to me."

AI is doing job interviews now—but candidates say they’d rather risk staying unemployed than talk to another robot

The only benefit is it is work from home so I can still do my podcast editing for Youtube and get a few extra hundreds from that.

If I was you I wouldn't leave Chit. I feel from grace, from six figures to not even mentioned at all :mjcry:

Gameplan now is to humble myself and use this job to get into security or another IT field.

still a top tier coli poster who will climb back to the top :salute:

Gotdamn they even getting rid of HR people?

I remember a job I worked at a few years back….. when they cleaned house……

One of the final like cuts they did was fire the HR rep who was in charge of firing people!

I remember thinking then “damn that’s cold”

Big Tech continues to hire in India even as local majors downsize

Synopsis
Despite global layoffs, FAAMNG companies are expanding their India headcount, growing by 16% in the past year, driven by demand for AI, cloud, and cybersecurity skills. While Indian IT firms face workforce reductions due to skills mismatch, Big Tech's India-based global capability centers are increasing hiring for high-end work and innovation.

These companies continue to post healthy hiring demand in the country, with active openings at 4,500 currently, despite executing large-scale layoffs in the US, with an estimated 100,000 laid off globally.
Very frustrating to read, especially for everyone underemployed/ unemployed.

They keep framing these lay offs as AI when they’re offshoring like crazy.

My last company got rid of local HR employees and just outsourced parts of the job to the Philippines. I don't know what happene if you needed to file some kind of workplace complaint. Probably fillout some kind of online form. Needless to say I didn't stay longer than 5 months.

Companies are also leaving tons of jobs unfilled after a layoff. And then dividing up those job responsibilities among the workers left. We keep getting more and more job duties dumped on us.

I still can't figure out what most of these overseas IT workers do all day. They keep handing difficult tasks back over to us in the states. That kind of entitlement has to be coming from up high in the Organization.

@JT-Money @null what’s the quickest turnaround time you’ve had for getting a job.

Like from application sent to being hired…

Also does anyone have experience being hired without an interview, but rather just based off an evaluation of questions regarding a few scenarios?

Nah, not in the IT field and not a reputable company. The only workaround I could think of is if you knew someone on the inside.

Quickest turnaround I got was 3 weeks ago for this company I started out two weeks ago. I interviewed Tuesday and they told me they were going to make an offer on Friday. It was 4th of July weekend so I got the offer the following tuesday basically 7 days. I could tell they were in a hiring rush

Yep that’s how I feel.

This company is a startup. Idk if this is the best environment for that, but it would be a massive pay increase and it would still be fully remote for me.

I do get hit up from recruiters with urgent requests.

I can see if someone leaves a company immediately and they hold a lot of weight and they need someone experienced to step in immediately that’s like only scenario.

Tbf the evaluation sheet, asked legit questions, that you’d expect an experienced data engineer to know.

During the pandemic I would routinely get job offers 2 weeks after interviewing for a position. But now you can expect to wait a minimum of 1 month or maybe even longer. You have way more people interviewing for the same jobs now.

And some companies don't really want to fill these positions. I've had so many interviews where they waste everyone's time and then pull the job req at the last minute. I've worked for bosses who did this in order to fake wanting to increase headcount.

I've had terrible luck with startups. They either want you to interview with like 20 people just to get hired. Or the company is a complete shyt show with tons of ego maniacs running things internally. I avoid all of them like the plague.

At a larger organization I can possibly transfer away from a psycho boss but not at some small startup.

that happened to me at the old place I worked out. The worst thing is that we had to train them
