Every industry is getting killed at the moment. Average unemployment range is 6 months I’m at month 3 and it’s completely vacant. Job postings are fake at this point
I was laid off from a big company in 2009, worked a few short term contract gigs in 2010 until I was hired in where I still am today in 2011.

It was brutal so I can relate to how it is. There is so much luck and timing in this u have to know much is out of our control.

The person who hired me in 2011, we had a hobby in common and I'm convinced that set me higher on the list than other similar qualified 😂

@Rekkapryde my baby brother has an associate in computer science from Devry, he dont use it. He dont e en think about it.
Letting Indians and asians take over our largest companies is not good. They're bringing their caste systems with them and ruining any potential for improving the work culture.

The Financial and Energy sectors are still hiring. But they want industry experience usually unless you have a referral. I've even seen people get hired at datacenter companies.
I'm in a energy/utility industry. Our hiring is nearly frozen but we did rehire a person recently who left company because of his experience.

I get job alerts all the time for Energy infrastructure companies. But Utilities are notoriously cheap when it comes to paying and hiring labor. I left that space because they kept nickel and diming on raises. Despite making money hand over fist with rate increases. Lots of regulations are being relaxed in the Energy industry to add supply and modernize the grid.

Yup. I just got my Electrical Engineering degree and one of my focuses was on Power Engineering. It’s tough for new hires outside of certain locations. I’m also trying to go for remote so that makes it basically no go. Also doesn’t help the dummy president has significantly decked the clean energy sector.

I‘M currently a Software Engineer working on the company’s A.I team so I’m not in a hurry although I do want to career change within two years. I made good money and invested in stocks that’ll compound so I’m good financially. I know of more older EE’s than I do SWE’s so I figure the sooner I start the better if I want to still do interesting work later and get paid for it.

@IIVI awesome! Great having both experience. We have a lot of old time HW engineers where I work and they all definitely have a lot of career longevity/stability.
