Hate that I was forced to get a new thermostat, but not mad at the upgrade :ehh:
I`m on the fence on getting the Nest Joint, in GA you get a 100 dollar rebate for getting these new joints, but I`d need 2 and, I`m like is dropping 500 or 400(for the 2nd gen) worth it

Through my job I was able to get 2 NAS with some old drives, so I have about 10TB of storage total with expansion capability to 30+
Got a new (to me) server through my job as well. A generation 8 HP ProLiant dl360 server with 16 fukkin cores
Also was able to get a free Cisco Meraki access point

I was doing some reading and Nest supposedly hasn't been about shyt since Google bought them out. I have my EcoBee in the car but I'm thinking about returning it. Can't really justify 275 when I can go get one for much cheaper. Not even sure my power savings will be enough to justify it :francis:

yea Google is a joke. The Ecobee is Apple HomeKit compatible which is interesting since 3rd party apps could be able to do stuff with it along with it working with other iOS devices. Honeywell has 2 wifi thermostats, I`d want the higher end one but I hear the Nest is better. I may hold out because this stuff is still novelty.

Think about it like this.

Its A hard drive with a network card and a variety of security options giving you the ability to share and or access data from any where with an Internet connection using a username and password.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FWURI8K/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are better ones then this but my needs aren't great

:ohhh:I've been looking into getting a NAS for the crib so I can access everything from any device internally, but didn't know you can pull that shyt up from outside the home network:ohhh:

I'm gonna look into this so I can pull up videos or movies at work :ahh:I just hope the quality and speed is good

yea going to put my jujitsu videos and books on it so I can free space on my phone.

Hopefully I didn't go too cheap. Some of the cheaper brands are a little flabby when it comes to streaming outside the home

Everyone should be on the LED bulb wave. They're really cheap now, use less power than fluorescent bulbs and put off less heat. They last longer, too.

I'm using a wireless power outlet switch with remote kit to control my lamps. Works great. It doesn't even need line of sight to work:
Code:

A similar product you can look into is a WeMo switch, which you can use with your smartphone to turn on your lights/electronics from anywhere over the internet:
Code:
http://www.amazon.com/WeMo-Switch-Compatible-Amazon-Echo/dp/B00BB2MMNE
Code:
http://www.amazon.com/WeMo-Switch-Enabled-Compatible-Amazon/dp/B00DGEGJ02

Edit: Fixed links because Amazon hyperlinks weren't showing up

is wemo the most affordable one? may get one for travel. I assume these can't have a surge protector plugged into them to control multiple devices at once?

Nothing yet, but I have some plans. I want to put in a wired LAN connection in the office, and I want to make some big upgrades to the HVAC system once it dies. Multi-stage compressors with humidity control. Already changed most of the lights to LED. Beyond that :manny:

Already have a server for all my movies/music/"research" running on Linux. Can't really think of anything else.
