is wemo the most affordable one? may get one for travel. I assume these can't have a surge protector plugged into them to control multiple devices at once?

I'm not that familiar with the WeMo switches, since I don't own one, but according to the Manufacturer (Belkin) you can:
Amazon.com: Questions And Answers: Can i plug a Power strip/surge protector into this device?
Amazon.com: Questions And Answers: Can I plug a surge protector into this, and thus have control over multiple devices plugged into the surge protector?
For WiFi switches, it looks like WeMo's are the cheapest. The switches I use (Etekcity) don't use WiFi, just a remote, but they're also cheaper.

I feel that ppl over exaggerate a lot of things, but they ain't lying about salt water. It's not necessarily hard, but there's a lot of science involved and you gotta be willing to learn. Once you get your salinity right and have enough live rock to convert your nitrites to nitrates you're good. Frequent water changes is a must and you absolutely need proper lighting if you want more than just fish (inverts, coral, etc.). There's a significant difference in the price of maintaining salt water compared to fresh water, though.

Upgraded to 2 Harmony Elite remotes and added the Philips Hue Light system in the apartment. I'm tempted to get a Nest cause my heating bill is nasty and this analog thermostat doesn't help. I'd just toss theirs in a drawer and when I move out take out my Hue lights and my Nest and reinstall their stuff.

It's weird to have to use my TV remote or cell phone to control my lights.

Wound up keeping and installing the EcoBee. It's dope being able to control my phone from everywhere. Extremely simple to install and seems to work much more efficiently than my old traditional one.
