Minidp is like usb-c, its a form factor.
Thunderbolt is a specification. They are not the same thing.

Its like pci-e 4x or 3x can both utilize a pci-e slot. Or Sata 3 is still on a sata cable

Ah! I gotcha. It seems much clearer now.
But yea, my MacBook definitely has TB1.
