I think you’re comparing apples to oranges here…. The event was to encourage women entering tech spaces since there are so few represented in these fields. These guys aren’t even trans women
if I put on a skirt and wig and called myself a female they wouldnt have a problem with me being there

This wasn't a thing 10 years ago. We can blame this how toxic the gender discourse has gotten, but doubt all of these people would purposely sabotage their careers to troll, under their government identities.

Truth is, tech has gotten more and more competitive and as some people have mentioned, regular men are overlooked for "diversity reasons". I'm all for diverse workspaces but if I'm hungry and want an in, I get it. I've gone to Black job fairs where there was a bunch of latinos/whites and ppl didn't make deal about it.

Its 2023, we live in a world where Mr.T can say he's a queen and we are expected to respect her gender. If you want to ensure a specific gender is excluded from your event, you're going to have to explicitly say as much....or require attendees provide proof of gender. How do you do that? Anything I can think of requires us to actually define what is or isn't a man, then excluding that gender, from an event promoting inclusivity. The irony is palpable.

Good, hilarious. Never met a bytch in tech who is talented. Those conference exists to take advantage of funding sources, there is no problem hiring women in tech, it's a falsehood.

This is embarassing. I have a difficult time imagining what a pathetic STEM education you got and how sad your workplace must be if you've never met a single talented woman at either one.

I knew dozens of women who I'm sure could lap you up anytime from my undergrad circles alone.

a quick Google tells me tech grads are 25% women and then folks act like discrimination in the hiring process is the reason why their numbers are low

This is a random strawman. Who said, "discrimination in the hiring process is the only reason women are underrepresented in tech"?

Obviously there are numerous reasons and they start early.

* the vast majority of available mentors to young people who want to go into tech are men, and they're more likely to mentor boys.

* the vast majority of teachers in tech subjects at every level are men, which naturally means boys have an easier time seeing them as role models and are often favored in most of their classrooms.

* studies show that teachers are more likely to recommend STEM careers to men than to women, even when they have the same performance

* the vast majority of tech people in upper management are men, and they set the culture and in many cases are more likely to gravitate to men coming up under them

* a lot of tech circles have a shytty work culture with the worst combination of male ego with nerds lacking social skills, and as a result make the environment extremely unpleasant for women

At my wife's workplace, they were overtly trying to hire more women and black/brown applicants. But it was hard as hell for them to hold onto the women, because all the senior employees were old white men with an occasional asian, and the workplace culture basically got tiring and obnoxious for every woman on the job. Thinking that hiring alone is the only thing Women in Tech conferences are designed to address is just ignorance.

seems kind of like a dumb career move since you risk getting yourself blackballed for acting in a disingenuous manner.

Are you kidding?

The Republican Party and Republican funded organizations will scoop them up QUICK.

and that's if they weren't sent by one of those organizations in the 1st place.

They already do this and been doing it. Ppl who think this is funny are either idiotic or in digital blackface on this board.

These dudes(I'm talking about the ones who are actually black), would be full on alt-right white supremacists if they weren't black. The only thing that's holding some of them back is that the far right hates and fears black people.

If you're a breh and into IT (only fakkits call it "tech") and you've got some talent the world is your oyster, there are so many opportunities. Only fakkits outside the industry try and equate this shyt to black people.

Look at these tough guys here lol. You can tell they l can't actually function in the "real world".

Good thing the white men you keep defending have never needed to be coddled. :mjlol: :mjlol: :mjlol:

It has nothing to do with "what women need". It's about the obvious stupidity of alienating half of the potential talent. It's about women taking shyt into their own hands by having conferences like this to try to leverage whatever knowledge and connections they can in order to compete in that environment. It's bizarre as fukk that you want to puff your chest out about the "real world", but then oppose women doing what they can to compete. Are you against their freedom of assembly?

And you still haven't addressed that you just made up a false claim and then attacked your own strawman.

im not defending anyone...
im saying the whole thing is a joke

I sit back and laugh at jokes

nothing is stopping women from doing anything...which is my point.
you come in talking about how they need support because of the environment...
thats goofy to me

you either want to do something or you dont

I have no sympathy for a middle class white woman...they dont have it rough

were talking about hiring practices and why women dont go into an industry...
now youre talking about white folks battling about stupid gender stuff

as we used to say..."let them hoes fight"
