The future is here, and it comes bearing technical fouls.

Deadspin's Barry Petchesky spotted a video that proves the next generation of video game consoles guarantees you too can feel what it's like to be formerNBA player Rasheed Wallace.

Here is a brief video captured byYouTube user RandomFrankP, showing off some gameplay footage from NBA 2K14on the Xbox One. More importantly, it shows that the Kinect technology—a device connected to the console that picks up sights and sounds—has rabbit ears for foul language.

With that, we warn the video does contain some NSFW language.

We always wondered what the future of gaming might look like, perhaps a virtual room not unlike the holodeck on Star Trek. Nah, instead we get technical fouls thrown at us as if Joey Crawford came over for a friendly visit.

Now I find myself taking the contrarian point of view in seeing this bit of technology as really rather cool. It's hilarious to think that you can get so immersed in a game that you can actually warrant a technical foul for F-bombs.

It's 2013; we don't have hoverboards or flying cars, but we do have video games that figuratively slap you on the wrist.

Of course, such violations—as they are in real life—become extremely annoying. Knowing full well that there is little to no hope in limiting the amount of expletives that fly from gamers' mouths, we assume you can turn off this particular portion of thegameplay.

While I have yet to play any aspect of the new Xbox One, I am a fond fan of all thingsNBA 2K, so I know there is hardly a dearth of game sliders and options you can turn on or off. Anyone with firsthand knowledge of this particular "foul language" aspect please let me know in the comments section though.

As Petchesky reminds, a Reddit user by the name of RossBoomsocks recently posted an image that proves the Kinect is listening throughout other games, because the user was hilariously reprimanded in FIFA 14.

A Kotaku article from 2012 reports this same technology was used in last year's NBA 2K13, using the Xbox 360's Kinect technology.

However, according to the report, technical fouls were given to the bench or a coach rather than a specific player.

With newer technology, the console seems ready to pick up on more and more of our movements and language, a concept that has garnered a great deal of praise as well as criticism for Microsoft's newest foray into video games.

Again, this may be a hilarious trifle that will amuse or annoy depending on where you are in a particular game. However, we are concerned if you can't turn this aspect of the game off, because sometimes things aren't going your way and instead of throwing an expensive controller, it's far easier to lob an F-bomb or two.

:what:

I'm not hatin on the system, and i don't own either one, but isn't that a bit invasive? Somebody fill me in.

:shaq2: Y'all do realize that NBA 2K14 on PS4 and NBA 2K14 & 2K13 on Xbox360 does this also?
