I guess it could be seen as a combination of both things...they aren't that politically savvy and they have money...so they lean right because of (like you said) less taxes for the rich.

Can't speak for everybody else, but Teddy Riley probably encountered conspiracies a long long time before Trump ever ran. Behold a Pale Horse is a cult favorite among Gen X Harlemites. Apparently everybody read it in jail and spread the gospel when they got home. First time I saw a copy irl, shyt looked like one of them old ass public school textbooks, literally being held together by tape. It was obviously much beloved.
