Its pretty much at the root of all of all modern problems. Think of it like this:

Most people look in the mirror and think that is them but that image is flipped, inverted so no one in the "real world" actually sees the face they think is them. This is why people freaked out when camera phones first came through as they were seeing their true face and it was going against what they thought they knew as themselves.

Same process is occurring inside their minds but its even harder to spot because only you can see it and even then it will attempt to evade you overpowering it because it likes to call the shots and have you sign the checks.

Looking at all these dope ideas, we really should make our own COLItalks because the topics so far are very interesting.

could you go in a little further please on the highlighted, do you mean like a positive thing or negative thing?

because i am looking at it as some type of defense mechanism or just natural immunities to the "modern problems".

i dont know man, you got me thinking. i always refer back to the bruce willis movie - surrogates because that is exactly 2022.

Its a topic I'll be covering at some point, I'll let you know when because there are generally three types of reactions to the info:

  • "WTF is he talking about?"
  • "Yeah, yeah, yeah. That makes so much sense. I get it" (and from then on your life shifts)
  • *Pure unadulterated raging at even daring to suggest they may be the victim of self deception* (as they go back to living a life they hate and wish separately to change)

Black essentialism. Something I've been thinking about a lot lately.

oh deep.

Essentialism is the view that objects have a set of attributes that are necessary to their identity.

thats science it'll be ill to see where you go with it. ie. media portrayal, propaganda campaigns, modern culture. are we perpuatuating it ourselves or is there an outside influence. this is nice.

oh serious.

you should create all sorts of work with that subject ... because you're right its not easy to grasp and the willingness to see ourselves in anything other than glory takes maturity and humility. its an important lesson.

Most definitely. Its something that when I've kicked knowledge on to groups IRL generated some very very visceral reactions from some as well 180s in behavior for others as a light switch was flicked that they didn't know they were looking for.

In a nutshell living through the false self is like hitting the skins of life with an extra thick, desensitizing jimmy hat whilst uncovering the real self is like a multisensory orgy. It just hits different.

throw us a little sample bro :russ:

some mr miyagi science :wow:

Well to build what should be insecurities into strengths self reflect on what your strengths and weaknesses are. Accept them, be comfortable with them, make fun of yourself with them and openly make fun if them to other people. That way you've heard it all they won't phase you a bit. So you don't shake or weaken.
Its hard but once you conquer this part you can now begin to look for insecurities in others. You pick up what makes other people nervous and what their general insecurities are. Focus on those, devise your jokes, store them in your mind
When the roast session breaks out attack. Attack fast, use everything you know about them, use your surroundings use pop culture references its all to keep them unsure where you're going to go next and while they're thinking about that and where you're going to go they're slowing up and everything they're hitting you with doesn't phase you cause you've already roasted yourself dozens of times.
