Im a 12 handicap and grew up playing Langston Golf Cource in D.C. Father taught me the game and Ive played all over the DMV and the Carolinas. Favorite course played is Belle Terre in Carolina.

This thread is great.

I've been playing for a little under 2 years. Just got my new clubs from Cobra on Wednesday. :wow:

I'm an 18 handicap. I need/want to get better real bad. It's expensive as shyt tho. With a 3 year old.. and real life bills and shyt.. it's hard to devote much time and/or money into getting better.

My ball striking is so inconsistent. It's so frustrating. I cant seem to get out of the tee box either. My slice is disgusting. I've seen videos, and tutorials, and all that shyt on how to remedy my driver issues, but nothing seems to work. It's so hard having to play catchup on every 2nd shot that I take. Especially when I'm punching back into play and essentially wasting a stroke there every time.

Ugh. fukk this sport. :heh:

Seriously tho .. what eats at me the most is the fact that I've always been really good at sports. ALL sports. I played nothing but varsity in high school from my freshman year on (Football, basketball and baseball) .. I played Basketball and baseball in college too. But Golf. Golf is another beast in itself.

I used to laugh at all the dudes that played while we were in high school and I'd call them all nerds .. and tell them how golf isn't a real sport.. and now they're all scratch golfers (or damn near) and I'm pushin a damn near 20 handicap. :sadbron:

5* thread btw.

My & my boy joined a county league last year which forced me to keep a handicap, currently at an 8 but had it down to a 6 last summer. Won a tournament with a a field of about 70 last summer too :blessed:

Are you trying to fix your slice or just overcompensating for it. I started golfing my freshman year & would hit a nasty slice, by junior year I was able to draw it but inconsistently. The best drill is putting one of those plastic range buckets about 1 foot behind your ball & a little inside when practicing. Forces you to drop it in & release the club face. That feeling when you hit your first perfect draw is :ohlawd: I played all different sports growing up, but that was by far the most accomplishing feeling.

Another tip I have is setting up with the ball line up slightly off the toe, it forced me to drop it in the slot even more. I don't watch golf really anymore on TV but Zach Johnson does this too.

I'd love to fix my slice completely. I've been known to try and compensate for it.. and play my rounds around the fact that I'll be having a left to right .. but that shyt gets old. I want to be able to hit the ball at least in the vicinity of where I'm aiming.

You guys know good reads and/or vids? I'm always trying to learn more and more. I follow a bunch of dudes on YouTube and watch their uploads daily.
