Have you filmed your swing bro? It helps out a lot. Stick with it

Yeah I was bringing a tripod to the range, filming in slow mo and everything. I started to feel like I was doing too much. Analysis paralysis... I realized that I learn better through repetition and feel. The problem with golf instruction is that it's such a variable game, there's SO MUCH to take in, and it's overly focused on swing mechanics and not short game/scoring/course management.

To further complicate things, there's so much variability with equipment. you guys were talking about loft, shaft composition, and lie angles meanwhile I'm over here like :mindblown: I don't want to be a pro, I just wanted more consistency in my game.

Luckily, I know how I learn so I've been getting better just by taking advantage of my unlimited range + free walking pass at a local course. It's been raining a lot and I have a flexible schedule so I can pop in and get a quick 9. I'm committed to getting better because I want to play this even in old age.

I've played Vice and Snell from the direct-to-consumer brands and have been impressed with both. But I'm in love with the neon Vice.

And getting 5 dozen for $125 is impossible to beat for a top of the line 4-piece ball.

dumb question... what difference does the ball make? How good do you have to be to really tell the difference?

I always see these on IG. 60 balls for $125... not too bad I guess. $2 a ball

If you're anything better than a hacker, you'll notice. You may not need the premium, tour quality balls, but the 2nd tier are still wildly better than top Flite, etc.

You'll notice the feel mostly on approach shots and putting, the spin on wedges/pitches.

I'm a 20 handicap. :patrice: What level ball would you recommend? I just hit whatever I find or is in the used ball bag.

Fellas, I decided to just say fukk it, and splurge. I’m not the type of dude that has a lot of disposable income, so whenever I buy something for myself, I feel bad as hell. But I told myself to start from scratch and build a whole new bag. I’m excited as hell. Got a full bag fitting scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at PGA SS for the new Mizuno 921’s. 5-PW. For the new Jaws wedges. An Odyssey putter that feels so damn right. And I bought a damn near brand new SIM from a local in Orlando for $350. All comes out to a little over 2k. Pay half, and the other half on credit. :heh:

Maaaaannnnn I just wanna go hit some balls.

  • My college buddy got some Mizuno 919’s (that’s why i wanted some of my own so bad) .. and I’ve hit them on the range a couple of times. They felt like butter. And I’m 6’6 (he’s 6 foot) .. I can imagine how much nicer they’re gonna feel when I order them puppies directly from Mizuno :banderas:

Callaway Super Soft
Bridgestone e12
Vice Tour

Not too premium that you'll be pissed at losing every one. Can all be found for relatively cheap and often on sale for under 20 a dozen

Is the difference in equipment that big a deal? I got some Wilson irons. I have no idea if it's limiting me or if I'm good enough to notice or improve with better equipment.

I got a Taylormade M2 driver and I swear I hit it just as bad as a driver half the price. :manny:

For me, I've only owned one set of Forged irons. My TaylorMade's from back in the day, and my old set of Ping's were cast. When I got the Cobra Forged set, it just felt better. Smoother. Its preference I think. I copped that SIM driver because of its low spin numbers. The tee box is where I lose most of my strokes. I have NO idea what my driver is gonna do at any given moment.

Played with my guy today in a two man best ball match. Was one of the craziest Finishes I’ve been a part of. We were down 2 after 15. I barely missed a 30 footer on 16 to win the hole. 17 one of my biggest fears ever happened on the course... one of my contacts shifted and sweat got underneath it :damn: I couldn’t see outta my left eye for my tee shot. I ended up putting it to 12 feet on a 110 yard par 3. Wasn’t even sure if I was lined up properly :russ: I regained my vision back on the green and sunk my putt and my opponents missed both of their 6-8 footers :whew: 18 we split pars and tied lol. Anti climatic ending but we almost did it :sadcam:
