Personal golf note. I hit my career low of 92 on Masters Sunday. Might not be a big deal to yall but breaking 100 was a big personal goal for me.

What I've noticed is that throughout all the lessons, YouTube vids, etc... I am not a swinger of the club. I'm a HITTER of the ball. I can't do that aggressive pivot release + let the arms/hands fall naturally stuff. I slice like crazy. The body swing doesn't work for me. I'm an arm swinger.

Is anyone else the same way? Also, I'm tired of instructors trying to fit everyone into their mold. I'm only paying for short game and putting lessons from now on

Thoughts on Spieth and Reed for the PGA Championship?

I put some on both, but am thinking of putting more on Spieth.

I forgot who was talking about it earlier ( maybe @HHR or @THE MACHINE ) but for the longest I was thinking my slice was because of an out to in path. Lessons with video tape proved that I don’t really come out to in. But I have a somewhat steep path.

So I spent a bunch of time on shallowing the club to no avail. Yesterday at the range I said what the hell lemme try to swing overly out to in and over the top. I expected my shots to go right but they didn’t. They went left.

This sent me down a wormhole and I realized that the old ball flight laws are outdated and it’s mostly an open club face I struggle with. So that’s gonna be my focus from now on. Because all these new swing methodologies are setting me back. I could cut 15 strokes just getting my club face under control.

3 tips for club face control that have helped me turn a slice into a draw....and given me 15-20 yards more on drives because of it

1. Grip. I used to try to utilize the standard, neutral grip. I started rotating my right hand (I'm RH) a little stronger. The "V" in my right hand now points towards my right shoulder. Makes it much more difficult to open much further in the downswing.

2. Ball position - I used to play tee shots towards my left foot. Moving it several positions closer to the center of my stance has improved my accuracy immensely, and lowered my ball flight.

3. See if your wrist is "cupped" at the top of the backswing. If it is, the face is likely going to come through impact open.

Good luck....it's an endless target lol

How are we feeling about the PGA coming up?

I have the following (The ones in bold would all win me more than I wagered. I believe Thomas gets me to break even. I'm using some as a hedge):

Spieth: $750 at +1400 to win $10,500.

Koepka: $600 at +1600-1800 to win $10,200 (Might be more, but didn't want to do the math)

Reed: $200 at +3300 to win $6,600.

Day $50 at +6600 to win $3,300

Watson: $50 at +8000 to win $4,000

Thomas: $250 at +1200 to win $3,000

Rory: $400 at +1000 to win $4,000

D. Johnson: $300 at +1200 to win $3,600

Bryson: $150 at +1400 to win $2,100

Fowler: $50 at +8000 to win $4,000

Ancer: $50 at +5000 to win $2,500

Hovland: $50 at +2500 to win $1,250

I'm out here at the Byron Nelson for the pushed-up tee times. I'm looking at the forecast, it looks like we're going to get washed up today. I spent $250 on these tickets and was looking forward to getting drunk all day on the 17th. :snoop:

I was worried him dealing w/ covid over the last month was going to mess up his momentum, but Spieth has looked good this week (granted everyone is tearing up this course). His driving accuracy, greens in regulation, and length have been really good. Hopefully, he gets a top 3 finish this weekend and wins the PGA Championship next weekend to complete the career grand slam and cement himself on the list of all-time greats.

Damn, they really got Rory at +1000?

Yeah, they have Rory very high. He was up there as well for the Masters, but I think the top three odds for the Masters were Johnson, Thomas, and maybe Rahm?

I want Spieth or Koepka to win. I took Koepka for some value, but his recent surgery is a little worrisome. I like what I saw from Spieth at the Masters. He was hitting some incredible shots. Unfortunately, he hit some awful ones too. If he can cut down on the awful shots, I like him a lot here.

Kiawah is a different beast. Whoever can control their ball flight best is gonna win. Sam Burns has been playing great all year and he looks like he's in total control of his swing.

These are my bets for this week. I have a few other longshots, but they are smaller bets and I won't break even if they hit. More of a hedge than anything.

Spieth: $965 to win $14,360

Koepka: $600 to win $10,500 (It went from +1800 to +3300 overnight, and of course I got him at +1800)

D. Johnson: $550 to win $7,600

Reed: $225 to win $7,425

Morikawa: $250 to win $7,250

Rory: $650 to win $6,800

Hovland: $284 to win $5,930

Rahm: $415 to win $6,035

Koepka, Hovland, and Morikawa all with good first rounds.

Still have Spieth, D. Johnson, Rahm, and D. Johnson left for today.

When it Spieth going to get it together this week and put some great holes together?:stopitslime:.

His putting has been pretty bad this year, relative to him of course. Figures it happens as soon as he figured out how to get off the tee.

He better make some hay on the second 9 if he wants to be in solid stalking position for tomorrow. At a minimum, he needs to be in red numbers after 36.
