Breh, I'm watching the LL shyt right now

The fact that he absolutely gets the record and appreciates the lyrics opened my eyes to some shyt.

I think this generation of rap fans is more equipped to go back and appreciate 80's hip hop than the generation that came before it.

I think that the generation that grew up on late 90's - 00's era hip hop looked at 80s hip hop as inferior to 90s hip hop because of what some considered the simplicity of the lyrics.

But this generation possibly could better appreciate the wild clothes/characters/simple melodic raps of the 80s, more than the previous generation, if they were presented the music in a welcoming/organic manner.

:jbhmm: this is 100% facts.... never thought about it like that.

The thing is it was the LL video that made me put myself in his shoes for a second. I woulda been like "yo this nikka LL is dope" in comparison to what's out now. I guess we have almost made that full circle in rap (if we haven't done it already)

He has a lot of respect for the 90s. It's funny cause in a lot of his videos he says he can't explain it but the artists then were more creative and different and just sound different, the way they put words together, whereas today it's just hype. Dude's 18 saying this.

Love seeing his reaction to pac's videos. "Pac is the head honcho, imo. fukk what the haters say". While he respects nas, he says nas says a lot of street shyt but you gotta pay attention and a lot of the shyt he has no clue what nas is talking about and he can't fukk with it.

This is why pac is universal. Everyone relates to him immediately.

And he said he don't fukk with jay at all. Feels he's all hype. Even this kid can see through jay:salute:

this sh_t got me crying yo :laff: i feel the lil brehs pain...his brain is stresssssed running at 100% cpu tryna keep up with nas' bars lmao

Right?!

Yo it’s kinda crazy in hindsight growing up how we all had entire songs like this memorized. Songs are so mich simpler now. Not even hating. Just saying objectively there were so much more words back in the day in popular hip hop in each song. I think it’s kinda impressive so many of us know entire songs front to back including Adlibs.

You can pull some songs, but its hard to pull the events/environments/moments/frame of mind you first experienced those songs in.

Time seems slower when we're younger because we have more new experiences, that draw our complete time and attention, and cause time to seem to be slower.

As we get older, and our lives become more routine and mundane, due to us spending more of our attention and time day dreaming about how we perceive things that either happened in our past, or could possibly happen in our future, and as a result, time seems to go by faster, because we're not living in it.
Yep. A big reason I really want to have kids is because everyone says it’s like you get to Re experience life again. Time definitely goes by faster because there are less novel experiences at a certain point.

what ive gathered from watching way too many reaction vids the last few days from teenagers, old people and people that have never listened to rap:

they love Pac...his voice, his subject matter, his flow....a few have teared up over Brenda's Got A Baby and Dear Momma in particular...and they seem to appreciate him as a lyricist which i love cause the "2pac aint lyrical but you feel him" shyt be killing my soul

they kinda meh on Biggie...until they hear Notorious Thugs which then puts them onto Bone, who they are mindblown by...Ive seen multiple reactions like that.basically wondering how Bone could rap that fast and still be lyrical

they think Nas is dope but hard to follow..love the flow, just dont know what he saying most of the time

they respect Jay but dont like him and its mainly because they really only know him from Magna Carta and a few have said his voice is wack

then they hear renegade or takeover and start to change their mind

the fukked up thing about Jay is his catalog is largely inaccessible, so kids are judging off his flabby years and clean singles :francis:

most that never heard of WuTang react to Cream...prefer Deck over Rae

they also flip out over bars and beats that i think we take for granted cause we grew up in that era....and they aint really heard or hearing shyt like that right now

:ehh:

and now i need a long ass break from the internet
