They just hate Christianity.

By college most will not be atheist. These kids were asked if religion is important in their lives, lol.

Every two years there's another study ..... atheist fakkits get all hype, but theN we wonder why atheist will never make up more than a tiny fraction of people.

It's
because they (kids) are more likely to avoid false religions. ....... this has zero impact on their belief in a creator or spirituality.
:heh: What are you talking about? The number of people who reject religion grows every single year and will continue too. The trend is crystal clear.

I would say it true most are ex Christians the thing that sucks in this country is that it is almost forced on you by your family and society you dont get to make that decision at a young age in most cases.
I feel that. I only inferred that most commenting on this thread were ex-Christians because Protestantism and Catholicism were the main faiths mentioned. I agree, given that the survey data was gathered in Ohio, parts of Cali, and Georgia (GA is in the Bible belt) most families as well as members of the faith go about preaching the Gospel in some of the most hurtful, and often ill-intended ways. Christianity was 'pushed' on me while growing up as well, but I wanted to know why so I studied it at an early age. I didn't come to terms and fully accept the Gospel until I was on my own in college. From my own personal experience, I fully understand why most people turn away from God whether it be: internal pressure from their household and/or an unpleasant and persistence from old folks.

Always been an atheist :takedat:even when I was a kid I just thought it was like Santa Claus and the Easter bunny :russ:
I feel ya. I am a believer. I'm assuming you may have had many encounters with other Christians trynna shame you and 'convert' you huh? I know quite a few atheist and agnostics- and that's the case for them.

why do you think that they are bitter? do you feel it is justified?
I'm not saying they are wrong for being hurt/ bitter about it. Let me rephrase that- I say bitter as in: "Man that [insert random food] left a bitter taste in my mouth." Of course I believe the hurt or ex-Christians are justified. Although I firmly believe in God, I whole-heatedly understand that some other people (this applies to ex-Christians) have had unpleasant experiences with church members, false promises from church congregations, and even thieving preachers. I know that there is garbage and filth in the church, which causes many people to label all Christians and churches in the same manner as the ones responsible for causing them to distance themselves from the faith.

Gang violence...
aside from the philosophical, scientific, and apologetic flaws, the youth have also finally learned that a shockingly high number of these holy men just want to dikk em down when their parents arent around. the more time passes, the more it seems that a lot of people are survivors of sex abuse and religious figures are one of the most likely predators.

Curious people ushered in those eras.

Newtons views on religion changed since he couldn't attribute gravity to god anymore.

Even dudes like Pauli had to come to terms with knowing god wasn't at a certain subatomic level

Mendel was a monk but he made discoveries.

Whats your point?

Religion didn't answer those questions...scientific inquiry did.

And at a time when science presumed to have the answers, it no longer could once greater discoveries were made.

This makes no sense.

The point of institutional religion isn't "finding answers" :mjlol:
