I don't know...I really think it's not. I legit think it's terrible for black people.

It's good to stir up the imaginations of the young, but the majority of black images on TV are negative.

But representation matters and what the material is made from comes from the immaterial.

I'll leave it up to the coli to discuss, personally I haven't fukked with TV in almost 8 years and haven't owned one in that time.

I have just realized there are just a limited number of roles for blacks on TV. And that's never dominant, always passive.

-The criminal, hypersexual, black male
-The black athlete (probably the most dominant presentation)
-The asexual black friend (*the media still afraid of the black man's sexuality and aim to control it)
-The flamboyantly gay black man who's there for comedic relief
-The black nerd that is shunned and doesn't get women
-The ratchet and loud black woman

And if there are any roles that are not passive, it's because they are subservient to the leads and never leading.

I can't think of any other roles honestly.

And straight up I'm gonna say it....the media is so afraid of the black man's sexuality they would probably be more comfortable showing two black men kissing on prime time than a black man kissing a non-black woman.

Yes, cable is straight trash. I tossed mine years ago and never looked back. I was over at my family's house during Christmas and after channel surfing with them for a couple hours only solidified what I already thought about cable television. I can hardly stomach some of it now.
