Obamacare was a response to the huge amount of people who were not insured.

Imo Obamacare is not a solution but a temporary patch, with the ideal system being single-payer healthcare. Obamacare is centered around the idea of getting people health insurance. Not healthcare.

I don't have/can't find figures on how premiums and the non coverage penalty has affected black communities, but that would be helpful.

Serious question, if everyone was taxed an extra 3-5% would that be enough to fund universal healthcare? Of course this would kill insurance companies so it would never happen but more so in theory.
I honestly wouldn't mind that. What they're doing out there to working people is pure wickedness. How much more can people take?

In that case you personally shouldn't give a fukk. Cuz I can see an extra 700 being annoying asf. The penalty could be cheaper. I've heard of people taking this route instead of dealing with the premium spike.

But if you have a collectivist idea about the whole thing (or someone who might be reading.)

Black breast cancer death could be avoided with insurance | Daily Mail Online

African-American women have worse breast cancer survival than white women in the U.S., and a new study suggests that is largely because black women are less likely to have health insurance. About 23 percent of black women diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004-2013 had either no health insurance or had Medicaid coverage, versus 8 percent of white breast cancer patients,
That insurance difference explained about 37 percent of the excess mortality among black women, the researchers calculated. The next most important factor was actual differences in the tumors, which accounted for 23 percent of the mortality disparity.

I doubt Obamacare had anything to do with this. For a health insurance company to raise your premiums that significantly they have to get permission from the state to do this.

Under Obamacare, a health insurance company must get the states permission to increase their premiums by anything over 10 percent.

So...

First of all are you even on Obamacare? Your premiums would have went up MORE without Obamacare and would have covered LESS. Obamacare slowed the rate of growth of insurance premiums while protecting you more. Blame the republicans for fukking things up by way of sabatoge and bringing uncertainty into the picture. Focus your frustration where it should and quit buying the right’s propaganda.
