The 'Stand Your Ground' law in North Carolina allows one to use force, deadly or otherwise, in self-defense. The self-defense must be within reason when such citizen is at his or her home, vehicle or workplace. A person may also use reasonable force to defend his family or a third-party.
The only way he should've been charged is if he initiated the confrontation/threatened to shoot the guy first..
even if he initiated the confrontation or came with the gun talk first..... dude left, came back with a gun and got hit.

This. The victim could have got of on self defense but might have to be it in trial but the suspect was dead wrong since he made the first gun threat
