If they missed the playoffs, wouldn’t the pick they owed a year later be entirely unprotected?
I don’t know exactly but I know our pick goes to the thunder now and we only have GS pick

I really wanted two first to be able to use in a trade package

Friday’s win means the Heat will not be part of the May 12 NBA Draft Lottery and its first-round pick this year will go to the Oklahoma City Thunder — a lottery-protected selection first sent out by Miami in the 2019 trade to acquire Jimmy Butler. The Heat’s pick that will be conveyed to the Thunder for the June 25draft will be the No. 15 selection. If the Heat would have lost to the Hawks, it would have entered the draft lottery with the 11th lottery seed that comes with a 2 percent chance of landing the top pick and a 9.4 percent chance of snagging a top-four pick during next month’s draft lottery
. With the Heat conveying the pick to the Thunder this year, it avoids owing a completely unprotected 2026 first-round pick to the Thunder. The fact that this year’s selection will go to the Thunder also preserves the lottery protections on the 2027 first-round pick it owes to the Charlotte Hornets as part of last season’s Terry Rozier trade. While the Heat won’t have its own first-round pick this year, it will still make a selection in the first round. That’s because the Heat will receive the Warriors’ first-round pick this year as part of the Butler trade. That pick will be 18th, 19th or 20th overall, with the order to be determined by a random drawing among the Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks, which all finished the regular season at 48-34. The random drawing will be held on Monday at 3 p.m.

So who is this Kasparov Jakucionis cat?

I see his scouting report says range needs work but crafty PH who can finish at the basket. So is this Goran Dragic lite or something?

I just don’t like when we draft players we DID NOT get to workout in the pre draft process. See Winslow…

But we’ll see…

Yeah he’s what the Heat needed. He’s a bigger point guard who can actually pass. He’s got bad turnover problems but he’s young. He just turned 19

Apparently he was a projected lottery pick but he got half of the year which tanked his stock but the kid is a crafty PG that would help day one if he is fully healed from his shoulder injury. We worked out WCJ and that was the projected pick but this is someone the heat were targeting if we missed the play in and wouldve got a higher pick.

U plug him in with Bam and Ware next year and it will be lob city

The Heat are usually near bottom of the league in shots taken in the paint and are usually near the league lead in long 2’s taken. This would be great.

The Heat worked out Traore and WCJ they didn’t even work out KJ because they didnt think he’d fall that far. I think the Heat was targeting Traore but he got drafted right before the Heat picked and they said fukk it and drafted KJ even though they didn’t work him out
