'god' does not have to be a man, 'god' can just be the personification of something beyond and something greater than us.
if you don't believe in 'god' then that means you believe man is the greatest power in this universe, that essentially we are without a master and we don't answer to anyone or anything. that our actions have little meaning in the grand scheme.
if you don't fear god then that means you don't fear consequence or punishment.
if you don't fear punishment then that means you are more likely to cause harm onto others.

-i fear punishment from other humans. we have set up systems of punishment that have nothing to do with a cosmic judge
-again....there are real life consequences for harming others

okay so let's say you dropped your wallet on the street somewhere and there was 500 dollars in it.
lets assume there are no witnesses and no cameras in sight. if someone finds it and they don't report it, that person has the opportunity to walk away with an instant 500 dollars.
as the wallet owner who are you hoping is the one that finds it?
a) a god fearing individual that feels morally obligated to return the wallet.
b) a non-believer that doesn't fear cosmic judgement and is only afraid of punishment by other humans.

say you're at logan airport on september 11, 2001, getting on a plane to california. would you prefer your fellow passengers;
-believe that there's only one life to live, so as far as they know, this is it
-believe that muhammad and allah are DEFINITELY going to "reward them in heaven" for hijacking the plane

I don't trust either group but I trust the second group a hell of a lot less obviously.
I wouldn't trust anyone that doesn't abide by the ten commandments, which terrorists obviously don't.

of course i'd rather the one who was afraid of the sky, in that scenario. and if someone was about to burn me at the stake because god said they "shall not suffer a witch to live", id rather the other person in your scenario because the idiot in your scenario with the wallet would be the same one standing around watching witches burn because they thought god was watching so if you dont trust anyone that doesnt abide by the ten commandments, what about the billions who worship other gods before the one in the bible

Christianity does not make people ignorant. The Bible teaches us to be tolerant of others and to accept strangers living amongst us as our own. How is that ignorance?
