I agree he fukked up but the recent busts out of Tennessee make me think NFL teams aren't falling for that again. Hendon Hooker, the receivers....that offense doesn't develop guys for the league.
Yup, this is a good breakdown of the system:
That part about having zero pre-snap reads for a QB to make isn’t getting any QB ready for the NFL. If someone stays in that system they’re basically guaranteeing they won’t be pro-ready and have limited experiences reading defenses.
Basically a system you can’t run in the NFL and why they kept recruiting big arm players because all they want them to do is throw downfield. I really wonder where Joe Milton may be if he went to a better QB school.
Sunseri’s system at UCLA in contrast makes far more use of pre-snap motion, shifts and protection checks for the QB to diagnose and ID both pressure and coverage. Then there are actual progressions post-snap. A legit Pro-Style offense where the QB needs to make decisions and communicate with the offense. Nico right now is reading defenses more than he ever has as a college QB. It’s probably one of the more Pro-Style offenses around in CFB.
I think he should honestly stay one more year and really unlearn any bad habits at Tennessee.
