Pryor will be getting more snaps

After throwing his first pass in last weekend's win, Oakland Raiders sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor could see increased playing time Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

"You'll see him a little bit on third downs, you'll see him maybe in the red zone, try to create a different look for the defense to contend with," offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said Thursday, via The Associated Press. "It won't be so much the structure of last week, where he had a series, which we thought was fair to him."

The former Ohio State Buckeye was 0-1 on his one series last week, after being ill prior to the game.

The Raiders selected Pryor in the third round of the 2011 Supplemental Draft, and he has spent much of this week imitating Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in practice.

"Right now I don't want to compare myself to (Colin) Kaepernick or Cam or any of those guys because them guys and Griffin have proved it," Pryor said. "I haven't proved anything. I can't really say I'd be like them."

Pryor's footwork, mechanics and pocket presence were question marks along with off-field concerns when he left college early in the midst of Ohio State's scandal.

Brandt: Surprise teams for 2013

His athleticism, however, is clearly at the NFL level. In a preseason game against the Detroit Lions, Pryor flashed some of his potential: big passing plays -- 137 yards, two touchdowns on just three completions -- and running rampant over backup players. Of course, it was only preseason, but the raw ability is there.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen is bringing along Pryor slowly, which will irritate some fans, who, with the season lost, would like to see what he could do full-time.

The Raiders know what they have in Carson Palmer. If Pryor succeeds in his limited role Sunday, he could warrant more time in the season finale as Allen enters his first full offseason an NFL head coach.

Currently developed him into 96 rating QB from a 69 rating in Madden by trading a third round pick for him in the first year. Brought him to Philly in a spread offense and won three super bowls already and the MVP three years in a row. :troll:

I would like to see him at least get the chance to develop properly and be coached correctly.

Yeah...they could run a mean read option with Reece and McFadden to get his feet wet since it's late in the season. Then install the real offense in the offseason.

That's when he was still at Ohio State. Far as I know since leaving college he's been a model citizen.

-And what's up with coach Allen? just play the guy.. the season is done.

they dont want him, hes from the previous regime but

carson palmers sucks

Hopefully he gets more than 3 plays this week. I like how they mentioned there were some red zone packages for Pryor. It only took the coaching staff 14 games to figure out Carson's habit of throwing 5-10 yard passes only works when the field is stretched. When the defense tightens up, like when there's a short field, he panics and makes poor decisions.

The Raiders better not fukk around and waste a draft pick on a QB this year when we have an untested Pryor chilling on the sidelines. All the good QB's coming out in 2014-2015 anyway.
