I used to be like you till I found online video tutorials to study on my own.

There are "free" torrent of algebra and pre-cal and calculus tutorials out there on the internet.
It depends on your definition of free

I've always loved math. I've had times when I've studied in preparation for a class or like in university when several courses were self study (via computer..tutors available). The way math is taught is often inefficient and ineffective. People have different learning styles which can be accommodated without changing the course/material one bit. There's usually more than one way to get to an answer, not just "learn to do it by hand in this one way first, to get the basic, then build on it". This is what they don't tell people who aren't good at math.

That's part of the reason I went to grad school (to teach), I've ended up going in another direction after graduation but I still hope to teach adults and older kids (esp. people who don't think they're good at it or have the mind for it) reading and math (up through mid college level). If you're about to take a high level class but didn't do to well leading up to it, go back and learn the basics on your own. There different math sites that have tutors who you can shoot a question to. Even yahoo questions could work, I've seen people ask these types of questions there.

Somewhere along the way I fell the fukk off. Math isn't the hard part, paying attention is. Most people don't want to be crushed by something they feel they'll never use. The average student goes into math class with the: scusthov: face. Then when they see Chow Sing Pak Singh Patel Obegwu teaching Principals of Mathematics of Marginal Particle Accelerants it's just :snoop:

All this for a bachelors in basketweaving?! :why:

My last two years of High School I took Algebra 2/3 and Trigonometry and between those two years I studied for 3 tests at most. :umad:

I was bad in Math as a child, and still bad in Math as an adult. :snoop:

Of course, I can subtract, add, divide, and multiple.

But it's Calculus, Linear Algebra, Analysis, Theory of Probability, Numerical Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, and Functions of a Complex Variable that has me :deadrose:

Was good at math. I never studied much. Just getting the lesson in class from a teacher during class is good. Especially if the class is daily.

I didnt really have to study til i got to the Calc's.

BUt mathisnt a hobby of mines. I jsut comprehend it really well. Like once summer comes or even a winter break, i'll forget most of what i learn the previous semester. But once class tarts and the teacher gives the lesson i pick it up quickly.

Like ppl said, its mostly jsut remember the procedure and stpes to figuring out the problem. Nobodys going to remember all the equations and procedures to every type of math.

Nobody goingn to remember Kramer's rule and all that shyt forever.

I taught math to summer school kids and they all asked me, how are suppose to remember this stuff forever. I told em you dont. You learn what you are currently working on. You not going ever have to to Trig, calc, all in one instance, unless you doing a 6 figure job or taking nationalize test. Otherwise if you see somethin you dont remember you just brush up on it. You not going get thrown in a situation at work where they dont tell you you going run into a certain type of math problem/situation.
