I rushed to listen to the track below because it was a new Nas song produced by The Neptunes. It was 2003, everything they touched at the time was guaranteed fire, but we got this atrocity:

Any time I saw a Timbaland credit, I knew it would be instant replay status, the song below wasn't it:

I'm still waiting on the beat to drop on Jay Z's "Off That" while we're at it.

I hate that Nas Angel's joint. Nas and Pharrell can do much better than that together.

they all got em, but most named will be just failed collabs between 2 artists. RZA stole a check from Guitar Center, thats not a published piece of music lol

this? this was a grade A tease, because there was heavy Premier-Nas smoke around this time

what.the.hell.was.THAT?

Nas "expirementing" aka purposely avoiding what his fans want.

sheeet, Nas always had a bad taste of picking beats in the later years, not surprised. I mean when you think of grimey hiphop and artist,,, you kind of know that if you see timberland or swizz beats, 99.7% of the time the production would be hot trash.

I'm 100% certain that Alchemist sent him a bunch of beats and Eminem was like :wow: when he heard that one and nothing else.

Dre also had some bad beats on this album. :francis:

I thought "Untitled" was cool. But "Welcome 2 Hell" was better.

Eminem taking shytty beats from highly regarded producers is a tradition. Just Blaze would know:

I can't obviously prove this but I have a mutual friend with Just Blaze who said there was an original version of Cold Wind Blows that was doper and knocked harder than what we got. I'm not sure how different it was, but I did like the final beat that we heard. But my homie has good taste, and given that and Em's bad taste and tendency to fukk up beats, I do believe the OG version of Cold Wind Blows was probably better.

Also they did a lot more together, but most of it didn't make the cut. IMO we got 1 dope beat (Cold Wind) and the other 2 weren't great by Just Blaze standards. Although I'm almost embarrassed to admit that the No Love beat is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.

I agree on Justify My Thug, but I think that's more on Jay than Quik. In an interview Quik said he played a variety of beats for Jay, one being the California beat from Trauma, but jigga chose JMT.:yeshrug:
Jay passed on this?

Speaking of Jay @ThisWorldAintRight I like the Threat beat on The Black Album, but these were all 9th Wonder beats that 9th Wonder almost used instead.

Jay also passed on this Primo beat, which I think was a good call

I swear Nas resents the critique of him not picking beats that people want, and therefore goes out of his way to just keep doing it out of stubbornness or just trying to make a point.

FWIW don't come at me Nas fans. :hubie: I don't think his beat picking is as bad as it's made out to be.
