I'm sure Tesla has done research on how the majority of truck drivers actually use their trucks for on a daily basis and will build the truck accordingly.
THERE GOING TO HAVE TO BUILD A 1/2 TON TRUCK AND CRAM 300-500 LBS OF BATTERIES IN IT. TESLA VEHICLES ARE ALREADY HEAVY. THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PUT THE TOP END ENGINE IN IT TO OFFSET THE WEIGHT. THE PRICE WILL BE TOO HIGH.
THEY CAN BUILD THE TRUCK TRUE ENOUGH BUT THEY CAN'T KEEP THE PRICE DOWN. THEY WILL BUILD IT AT A LOSS. THE BATTERIES ARE TOO HEAVY. IN ORDER TO HAVE A DECENT RANGE PER CHARGE THEY WILL NEED MORE BATTERIES OR BETTER BATTERIES. MORE BATTERIES KILL THE TOWING CAPACITY. YOU CAN ONLY OFFSET THAT WITH BETTER SUSPENSION AND MORE POWER TO THE ENGINE. EXPENSIVE. THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS LIGHTER OR MORE EFFICIENT BATTERIES. THAT IS JUST AS EXPENSIVE. TESLA HAS PROBABLY THE MOST ADVANCED CONSUMER BATTERIES ON THE PLANET RIGHT NOW. THEY AREN'T CHEAP EITHER. EITHER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT, THE TRUCK WILL EITHER BE INFERIOR TO GAS TRUCKS IN EVERY WAY OR COST TWICE AS MUCH JUST TO HAVE THE SAME STATS.
I DON'T SEE HOW THEY CAN IMPROVE BATTERY TECH THAT MUCH AND HAVE IT BE AFFORDABLE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
BUT THEN AGAIN, TESLA HAS BEEN OPERATING AT A LOSS FOR YEARS NOW. MAYBE HE HAS A PLAN AFTER ALL.
