IT'S PHYSICS. MOVING MORE WEIGHT REQUIRES MORE POWER. THOSE BATTERIES WON'T GET MORE THAN 150 MILES ON A CHARGE WITH A TRAILER. YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THAT IN A COMMUTER CAR. PEOPLE WHO PULL TRAILERS TEND TO TRAVEL FAIRLY LONG DISTANCES. TRY PARKING A TRUCK WITH A TRAILER IN A CHARGING SPOT. A LOT HAS TO CHANGE IN INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT A PICKUP.
They most likely will have extra space for a larger and denser battery. Electric can do anything gas can do, it's all energy at the end of the day

I love engineering like this because Elon realizes you only have to successfully do something once, then it becomes much easier/quicker/cheaper to improve on the existing model

I want to see what that Semi is going to do. If it can haul stuff for long distances then I'm pretty sure that technology will carry over to the pickup truck as well. I guess we will have to see........

THE SEMI HAS THE ADVANTAGE. IT HAS MUCH MORE SPACE TO DEVOTE TO BATTERIES. A SOLAR ARRAY ACROSS THE TOP OF THE TRAILER PREVENTS HAVING TO IDLE AND HELP WITH CHARGING.

@MR. SNIFLES

is right, my cousin is was an engineer for ford now he works for GM. Building an electric pickup truck with less than 7500lbs in towing capacity is en exercise in uselessness.

A. BECAUSE RESEARCH TEAMS ARE NEVER WRONG. I SPEND 10 HRS A DAY DOCUMENTING HOW WRONG THEY ARE. I WORK FOR FORD.

Not saying yall are wrong because I don't have enough knowledge base on the subject. But I will say I highly doubt they are designing a product that will not be able to compete or beat whats currently on the market.

COMPANIES DO IT EVERYDAY. FORD JUST RELEASED THE CONTINENTAL TO COMPETE IN A MARKET WHERE FORD IS WAY BEHIND. THE CONTINENTAL IS A WAY OVERPRICED BAD CAR COMPARED TO IT'S COMPETITION. THAT PICKUP WILL EITHER BE A WAY OVERPRICED PICKUP THAT CAN DO THE SAME THINGS AS GAS TRUCKS OR IT WILL BE A NORMALLY PRICED PIECE OF shyt TRUCK THAT CAN'T HAUL ANYTHING. WITH CURRENT TECHNOLOGY IT CAN'T COMPETE IN ANY FASHION.

The bubble propping all these companies up....

why are you still at ford and not at faraday future or some shyt ?

FORD IS FINE. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THE AUTOMAKER'S ARE ABOUT TO FACE IS THE RAPID RETURN OF THEIR LEASED VEHICLES INTO THE USED CAR MARKET. THERE IS GOING TO BE A DRASTIC DOWNTURN IN CAR PRICING SOON. TOO MANY LEASED VEHICLES IN THE LAST 2-3 YEARS. THEY'RE GOING TO HIT THE MARKET AND KILL THE PRICING. THE DEALERS ARE TRYING TO FIGHT IT BUY RAISING THE PRICES ON LEASES BUT TOO LITTLE TOO LATE IF YOU ASK ME.
