This album was really refreshing to me.

I've been a huge fan of Lupe since the OG mixtapes. I remember hearing his songs and just memorizing the lyrics after a few spins. My attention to lyricism was at an all time high when he was breaking into the game and dropped his 1st 2 projects. I remember nikkas breaking down this dude's lyrics in 'Official Lupe Fiasco Quoteables" threads and shyt. It would be dope as hell. Over the past few years though? That kind of discussion has ceased. Mainly because nikkas aren't saying much of anything. And even if they are, it's so straight forward that it's really nothing worth mentioning. No creativity in the delivery of lyrics now. I can only name a few cats who are capable of this now a days.

This album taking me back to that place though. Can't even front, it's like the music I've been listening to over the last few years has been numbing my taste for great lyricism in my music. This album just slaps you in the face with bars and it's on you to get it.

I agree with all of this.

I haven't felt that feeling since I was young where I had to truly sit there and "get" it.

It's an honest opinion, there's no hate involved, I've given props to Lupe where it's due, this album is overrated though by the nerd fan base. People are easily impressed by pesudo intellectual shyt cause they are so dumb, they think if they don't understand it it must be amazing lol, when you understand it you see it isn't lol. It's not about what it has, it's whether it's a dope song and to me personally it's unlistenable, good beat though, if you disagree so be it, I don't care if someone likes it or not, so don't see why you care if someone doesn't. I will certainly go ahead and it will break it down properly the point.

It's true though, the streets don't fukk with that shyt. There's no way the street dudes are going round saying this is the greatest album ever and all that bullshyt. You can say what you like but truth is truth. I'm not saying everyone who likes the album is a nerd, what I'm saying is those overhyping it are mostly nerds, Star Trek loving dudes, as the biggest Lupe stan on the board admitted. There's a bunch of corniness on the album, I broke it down in the album review thread.

The only 1 who sounds insecure in reality is you, shyt must be hitting too close to home or something, I just said my opinion but you sound emotionally discomforted by the opinion, I am 100 percent secure in my opinions, like I said I've heard the album fully multiple times, have praised Lupe in the past, have no beef with him, I just don't like THIS album, the fact you wanna call me a clown cause I don't like the album shows how insecure YOU are. Chino XL is better than Lupe by the way, Pac even respected Chino as an MC. As do many other great certified MC's. RicanStruction shyts on Lupe's new album in reality, but some dudes wanna do their musical crossword puzzles so hype up something that isn't as dope.

The streets do fukk with K-Rino absolutely, this is why you make yourself sound stupid when you say dumb shyt in an emotionally agitated state, K-Rino is the founder of the SPC, J Prince, Scarface, Z-Ro, Trae Tha Truth, Willie D, Gankster Nip, Bun B and many others fukk with K-Rino hard. Everything I say is facts. But even the fact you are bringing up K-Rino is cause you are too emotional, he has nothing to do with the subject. It's about Lupe.

Chino XL is better than Lupe though, Chino has his respect too. And people wanna talk about intelligence but Chino XL is actually in M.E.N.S.A and 1 of the most intelligent rappers. While people are hyping up terrible bars about contemporary museum of art, that farts and references to some album covers by rhyming just a baby 6 times on a song. Did you even hear the RicanStruction album?

Yall speaking the gospel in here. I didn't want to go into the album thread and fukk up the celebration going on in there. But the album didn't connect with me like that musically and I dug Lupe's 1st 2 albums. Especially F & L. The music was good and enjoyable to listen to regardless of how much deeper the messages in the songs may have been. This album I feel like Lupe's 1st objective is to let me know I'm listening to some complex shyt. The enjoyment part of listening to the music is missing. I admit I need to give it a few more spins, although I'm not that motivated to do so. Maybe it will grow on me more. The music isn't bad at all, it just doesn't grab me or feel like something I will want to listen to in the near future.

I came away thinking, wow Lu is a brilliant cat, maybe the most skilled & gifted emcee out there. But I don't really care to listen to his music. I love thought provoking hip hop with a message, but I'mma need that shyt to be more accessible.

K-Rino is respected by some of the most street rappers. People do play K-Rino in the streets, Stories Of The Black Book was regarded as a street classic and that was in like 93. You REALLY don't know what your talking about lol. No wonder why you are impressed by dumb shyt lol. Ok but that's not true, I know for a fact they do. K-Rino is a certified street legend and OG, a significant part of his fan base is the streets. I don't see why you'd talk about shyt you clearly don't know about lol. But that's the point, your impressed by these Lupe puzzle raps, at least Chino has some kind of certification (though it's not everything) to his intelligence with an extremely high I.Q, I guess I relate to shyt that is really intelligent and you relate to shyt that makes you feel intelligent. RicanStruction was an excellent CD, might actually be better than any Lupe album, Poison Pen was very dope too. Chino's album had masses of content and excellent lyricism, and flows too actually. From what you're saying it sounds like you haven't even heard the album, at least I've heard both, and that emphasises the contrast, 1 is an overly emotional subjective opinion, 1 is completely objective just about the music and albums. But cool man, can be done, like I said in the last post, people gonna disagree, but I'm not gonna stop stating my opinion just cause others don't like it. If Lupe drops some shyt I can feel with the next project I'll fukk with it, this isn't it.

For me, what I like about Lupe's music is that every time I listen, I find something new. This really helps with the replay value of his music, plus when he wants to dumb it down and make bangers, he can and still send some sort of message. But his music can be pretty cryptic and as some have said is not as accessible, so I can definitely see how his music can be disagreeable for some especially in this ADHD generation.

Everyone has different tastes and opinions so its cool to hate his music or disagree with his views, but you have to be a hater to not acknowledge that he is one of the most talented artist of this generation (not calling anyone out, just sayin). Especially since Lupe has been acknowledged publicly by a lot of people in the industry (Kendrick, Jay-Z, Eminem, J.Cole, Mos Def, Drake, Nas, GZA, Ice-T, Ab-Soul, Kid Cudi (lol) and many many more.....) Real recognize real

Why does music have to make sense to enjoy it?? OP said he enjoys the production and the lyrics, isn't that enough to like/love something. Who cares if you don't "understand" it....in all reality the only person who fully understands the album is Lupe himself.

I feel like us Lupe stans can be annoying as fukk to people....music is what you make of it, not everything needs to be fully comprehend, and IMO it's fun to have your own unique opinion of what a song means
