this my area and ain't shyt popping off...lots of single family type setups (although they're building apartments up and down Broad Street/Leesburg Pike but they taxing nikkas frfr. I'm moving back out to Fair Oaks. That shyt at least somewhat affordable but gotdamn that commute brutal. If you ain't on 66 by 630, you sitting in a parking lot. Couldn't pay me to live in Springfield and Mclean is way too expensive. Lorton cool but again, that chokehold on 95 be right therethe better (alexandria, springfield, lorton, falls church, tysons/mclean, fairfax, vienna, fair oaks)
Yeah man, I kinda dig it there…. Peaceful, nice mix of people, good restaurants, nice neighborhood, not too much crime, nice menu of womennova![]()
Yeah man, I worked in DC for years…. DC’s menu of women is nice too… but yeah expensive area…. I guess I need to visit Texas more often forreal to get a better feel. I don’t think I was there long enoughGoing by your criteria, Dallas, Houston, and NOVA checks all of your boxes. However the Texas metros are more spread out. NOVA is still spread out but you have DC at your doorstep where hot spots are just short walks or train rides away. All three of these areas has tons of shyt to do but DC is only 4 hours away from NYC and/or the beaches.
DMV is way more expensive tho and you will make more money in NOVA. But your money will go further in the Texas metros. I like Austin but still a bit too small for me and I’m not the biggest fan of San Antonio. Nice city but it’s ok.
For tech jobs, NOVA (especially) , Austin, and DFW wins. You have tons of options in tech in this area.
Yo what’s Lorton and fair Oaks like??shyt, Midlothian & Mansfield bout to be one damn city in a couple of years the way they building out that way

Yeah but these days I HATE case management…. The pandemic ruined it…. I HAVE to get out of it
Understood, appreciate the brutal honestly. I will definitely consider thatYea but coming to Austin or Dallas is gonna be insanely competitive. Houston you can stay in the med field till you can find a SaaS company where you can leverage your experience. Honestly start looking at SaaS/healthtech companies for solutions consulting as that would be your best way into tech.
Ain’t nobody looking for a 40 year old with basic coding experience.
I feel like Texas Is always gonna be hot af regardless tho lmaoooYou would be a fool to move to Texas in this political atmosphere + plus climate change
Ah that sounds good… and I was aware Houston’s cost of living was THAT dramatically different than Dallas… thank you for the info G! And I’m gonna look into the Texas medical centerI'm from Dallas but have lived in Houston for the last 10 years. I would recommend Dallas. I planned on moving back home years ago, but I'm really too invested down in Houston right now. Plus, I would probably take a somewhat big paycut if I leave where I'm at to go back to Dallas.
Houston's traffic is getting a lot worse, but since you're somewhat in the medical field, Houston might be a good fit because we have the Texas Medical Center.
