No I never stated an opinion either way, I don't think its a real issue If its voted on at the state level and passes, good or bad for that state.





I will admit that I'm bias towards state level politics because I want so much of the power/decision making returned to the state level. So I could be missing the point...

Yeah, I can understand the last point. What about for national elections, though? Should some states be allowed to add requirements designed to keep certain demographics out for national elections, since those affect us all?

Texas Hispanics have to actually vote though. From what I've heard many don't vote, and the ones that do aren't as liberal as those in the rest of the country. Texan republicans tend to be more sensible on immigration issues than republicans in other border states, so the Hispanics are less threatened I guess. Still, a majority are liberal.

Math and demographics guarantees that Texas will be a blue state eventually, but I just don't think Wendy Davis can win. Apparently she has some of Obama's best GOTV folks, and they've been studying Texas for awhile, but they'd have to pull off a complete miracle to overcome the sheer republican dominance in that state.

I think the Supreme Court sealed the deal when they struck down the part of Obamacare that made states expand Medicaid; not state legislatures choose. Texas refused to expand, meaning there are more than a million people stuck without insurance. If Medicaid had been expanded in Texas I think those people would come out and vote to protect their insurance; they aren't bums, they're hard working people with shytty paying jobs. Wendy Davis is promising she'll expand Medicaid if she wins, but that's a harder sale than "vote for me to protect your benefits."

This is bullshyt. Texas is red and the MAJORITY of women here are republicans. I know most libs would prefer for there to be no IDs necessary, but its still important that only citizens have the right to vote.

And no one will have to "scramble" to fix this, being that there is at least 1-2 years before the next election. Not sure why this is such a big deal. It appears whenever voter laws are changed, liberals want to scream discrimination.
