i think schools should give a percentage of merchangide sold to players and a larger percentage fi their jersey sells (and sell jerseys with the fukking name on em)

if boosters wanna give em gifts like actual objects up to a certain monetary value, that would be cool too as long as you log that shyt in with the ncaa and the school. i dont think boosters should be giving money per se but thats where the scholly and percentage should help

As a Texas alumn, I don't buy this shiz. Finebaum was the main person saying there was no Texas offer. Hiding shyt for your book or did it simply not happen? :beli: Didn't happen.

If you're wiling to pay 100 million, what's the big deal of firing the current coach? Mack brown, or anyone for that matter.

There's two issues I have with this.
1. How stupid is Saban for turning this down? He could drive up to Jim Harbaugh in a Lamborghini, roll down his window, say "Nice game, here's a tip", and throw a bundle of hundred dollar bills, and then say, "Go get yourself a nice suit or something. Stop buying your khakis from Walmart". And then drive off.

2. Texas booster club members care less about helping students with scholarships than the athletic program. All these wealthy alumni loved going to games and now want to support their team. If you spread out that $115 million(salary plus sign-on bonus) down to like 11,500 students, they would each get a $10,000 scholarship.

athletic boosters only care about athletics, the other alumni are for the rest of the school

This is basically what I'm getting at. I don't believe the school should be forced to pay players. But if the school does wish to pay them, or a booster, or sponsor or whoever wishes to pay them then they should be allowed to receive any money or gift for their services.
This is so stupid

Well some of them do put money towards the academics. The business school is named after McCombs. Also some of that athletic money is used to support other programs. Not the booster money, but the booster money helps bring in athletic revenue which then can be allocated elsewhere....im assuming.

This is so stupid

How's it stupid? If someone wants to pay you for services you're doing, as long as what you're doing is not illegal [last I checked playing football isn't illegal] then you should have full right to accept that money.

But the ones directly profiting from it shouldn't have to pay the labor?

These things should go without saying. It's play money to these guys. Sports is a great american pastime. As a sports fan, I know if I was worth 100s of MM's I would donate to my schools athletics so we can win as well. I'm sure a majority of people on thecoli would do the same if put in that position.
