A Texas middle school teacher was sentenced to prison after having sex with a 15-year-old male student while she was pregnant, according to officials.

Katherine Ruth Harper, 28, was ordered Thursday to serve six years in prison for the relationship with her former student at Tidwell Middle School in Roanoke, the Fort Worth Telegram reported.

The seventh-grade English teacher will also have to register as a sex offender and serve 10 years probation following her time in prison.

Harper, a cheerleading coach, pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and having an improper relationship with a student.

She was eight months pregnant when she was arrested in April 2017. Police reports, however, didn’t state whether the teen was the baby’s father.

Prosecutors said that the pair exchanged texts before having sex multiple times in June and July 2016.

They also reportedly drank alcohol together during sexual encounters at each other’s homes.

School administrators were notified about the relationship in September 2016 and contacted police. The case was closed due to lack of evidence until a detailed tip was submitted to the district website around three months later.

The student then confessed to his high school principal about the affair, the Fort Worth Telegram reported.

“One thing led to another and she told me to ‘put it in’ and I did,” the teen said, according to the police warrant.
