Texas has been getting way closer every year as their demographics shift. Florida just enfranchised over a million felons who didn't have the vote before.

Of course next time means something.

Texas was a Republican blowout just a couple elections ago, now it down to 2% and you saying next time means nothing?

I was born and grew up in a Texas with a Democratic governor and state legislature you dummies. Democrats WON 12 more seats there last night and now have 63 seats to the Rethugs 85 and the Rethugs are going to be in for it when state wide census redistricting leave their power crippled even more as urban areas gain more seats. Beto was huge for Dems in the state last night, his momentum won them huge gains.

Florida is the state that will never have a blue wave again, their purple status might as well be gone given the massive demographic shifts. The only purple status they might have is the presidential election as that traditionally has higher turnout and a turns out "undecided" voters.

But Texas always turns out a lot of dems and that number will only go up as it has for years.

The state that Democrats lost by a razor's margin and just enfranchised 1.5 million former felons is never going blue again?

I see demos shifting elderly and white in Florida as the climate change makes it more untenable, there needs to be something to countervail the growing demographics of 65 and older who by 2020 will have grown by over a million and a half since the 2010 census and by 2030 will make up over 1/4th of the total population. The voter enfranchisement is a boon, but it's not the turning tide if demographics continue to skew as they have been on the trend line over the last decade.

I hope I'm wrong, but it being so tight in a race that the house came ahead by almost 9 points doesn't inspire confidence on my end, it does the opposite.

WHEN ALL you have is Metropolitan people smart enough to vote for you... while all of RURAL texas will vote against their own agenda. Traveling to every county in Texas is a cute PR stunt, but your big guns will always be in El Paso, Border, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.

The voting numbers in San Antonio lost him the race. Absolutely abysmal. 1.5 million pop city only draw in 500,000 total voters. Beto really should of preached that he gonna have to battle the rural counties.

Houston brought in over a million voters. Austin brought in about 500,000 with only a 900,000 pop. Dallas brought in 700,000. The second largest city only brought in 500,000. It's over. Beto had such a slim chance of winning. He need all the big cities to fight off rural texas. San Antonio just didn't show up.

When Cruz publicly say that he doesn't need to travel to every county, because they'll vote for him regardless. He publicly calls rural Texas nothing but a bunch of sheep. It's because.,.. He is right. The really educated people are in the cities.
